Mirage laughed at the description Soren gave of the affects of being rude to people. It sounded foreign coming from her, but it felt so good. The inn keeper looked up over the counter. His name was Sven. "How may I help you today?" he asked Mirage as she approached the counter. Mirage looked around the room. There were the usual people in the room, nothing that looked to suspicious or dangerous. "My friend and I are in need of two rooms for the night," she said.

Soren also scanned the room and the people in their surrounding area. He felt at ease within the walls of the inn. The ordinary people about them gave off an air of comfort, like an air one would feel within the home. He smiled a little bit and turned back to Sven.

Sven looked at the two patrons and smiled. "Sure no problem. Who will be paying?" Mirage looked at Soren, then decided she'd pay. "I will," she said. She took out the queen's emblem that showed she worked for the army. "Do you still give free boarding to members of the Queen's Army, or do I have to pay now?" Sven looked at the emblem. "You can go for free, but your friend there will have to pay." Mirage pulled out some silver and put it on the counter, "Will that be enough for at least one night's stay?' Sven eyed the silver and replied, "Sure. Let me show you to your rooms."

Soren tried to object. "If you're low on funds, I can gladly pay for my own share, you know."

"I'm not low on funds. It's just normal for most members of the Queen's Army to get free lodging, but not free food. Plus, I'm only planning to stay in this inn for one night, so it's no problem." Sven led them up the stairs and to their rooms. He handed them the keys and said, "Here you go, and if you need anything, I'm downstairs." "Thanks," Mirage said as she unlocked her door and set her bags down. She checked for traps and any odd substances as she unpacked.

Soren unlocked his door, across the hall from Mirage's, and peered inside. Simple room; nothing fancy. And he didn't expect anything more than a bed and a desk anyway. Surprisingly, there was avid enough space to pace around and think. That's all the peculiar artist needed.
He looked across the hall to Mira's room. "Think these rooms will be okay?"
Soren wasn't adept to sensing subtle dangers. If there was a trap in his room, he didn't feel it.

"Yeah," Mirage replied. "I don't think there are any traps, but it's become a habit to check for them." She walked over to his room and checked for traps and odd substances. "Tomorrow we start looking for wizards that I know," she said.

Soren nodded. "Sleep well, Mirage."
Though he turned his back and closed the door gently behind him, it seemed pretty obvious to Mirage that Soren had no real intention of going to sleep anytime soon.

"I will," she said as she walked back over to her room. She closed and locked her door and was soon getting ready for bed. She laid down and was soon fast asleep.

((Think something should happen during the night, or shall that wait til the dawn?))
Soren began to examine and measure the space of floor in his room. After making sure the space was enough, he pulled out a folded piece of fabric from his pocket and unfolded it and unfolded it until it was a large, thin blanket...

Mirage awoke with a start as something bumped into her door. Even her deep sleep would be deemed light sleeping by the average person, but she was a trained assassin, and everything remained alert, even in her sleep. She drew a dagger from under her pillow and silently crept towards the door. She allowed herself to turn invisible and non-solid. She walked through the wall and was soon in the hall way. A cloaked figure was backing from her door and turning towards Soren's door. She could see a crossbow loaded with a poisonous dart in his hands beneath the cloak. She walked up behind him, now a solid but still invisible. The man prepared to break down Soren's door. Mirage tapped him on the shoulder and punched him. She then proceeded to lift him up and against Soren's door. The man soon became terrified as he could not see what force was holding him at bay. Mirage kicked the cross bow from his grasp and it skidded to the ground. "Who sent you?" she hissed. "Waefae," the man mumbled. Mirage dropped him to the ground and slit the man's throat. Soon there were many of Waefae's agents in the hall. She became a non solid and retrieved her sword. She walked through the hall and into Soren's room, where she became a solid, but still invisible. A cloaked man was standing in the room creeping up on Soren. Mirage whipped out a dagger and threw it at the man. He dropped to the floor dead. "Soren, We have to get out of here. Now!"

Soren, who had been so immersed in his artistic progress with the canvas on the floor, didn't realize that someone had been sneaking up on him and it gave him a sure start. He flinched when the man dropped dead on the floor. It took him a moment more of gazing blankly at the man to realize that he had almost been killed.
He turned his attention to Mirage and nodded. "I do believe that would be the smartest thing to do right now."

Mirage looked back at the door. One of Waefae's men was cutting into it with an ax. She could see the wood giving way underneath the heavy blows. She remained invisible as she headed over to the window. She opened the window and looked outside. There were no trees nearby. She took a long rope with a small grappling hook off of her belt, fastened it to the window sill and dropped the rope over the window ledge. It ended six feet from the ground. "Let's go," Mirage said. The Blood members were preparing to break through the door, swords drawn. Mirage climbed out the window and began her descent, an arrow barely missing her as she repelled down the side of the inn.

With reflexes that would catch Mirage by surprise, Soren stepped to the side as an arrow whizzed by him. Without another thought, he propelled himself out the window and grasped the rope, sliding down and ignoring the burning sensation of rope against the palms of his hands in his adrenaline rush.
With more familiar and expected clumsiness, his rapid descent of the rope caused him to collide into Mirage, causing at least Soren to lose his grip on the rope and sending him tumbling into the ground with a soft "thud."

Mirage grunted as she fell and tried to get out of the way, but Soren landed on her. She punched him an said, "Get off of me!" as she tried to stand up.
