She'd been to quick, and to smart, for my trick to work. As I dropped to the floor I looked around quickly, backing up to one of the bars cautiously. Apparently she'd made good friends with the shadows too, which led me to wonder how many talents she had.
The word interesting no longer seemed strong enough to describe her.
Crouching low I looked at every minute shadow, wondering where my foes would reappear, and readying myself for any attack I could imagine.

Suddenly, a heavy man was thrown against the cage wall. After years of wearing down and weakening, the bars gave in and collapsed inwards, bringing the stocky man down inside. The crowd was in an uproar, and they scrambled to get away from someone in their midst.
Who just happened to be the one Kakashi had been fighting. Sheila glowered at the scene around her as many men and women in the club cowered away from her.

The bars beside me shattered as a body broke through them, sending broken shards flying through the air. I rolled forward, trying to escape their biting touch, but several found their mark, cutting through my flesh like blades.
Standing up I turned to see Sheila outside the cage, her appearance causing mayhem in the bar. I felt so numb as I watched the scene, the sudden loss of anger leaving my uncertain of the world I walked in. Where was I, and why was I here? A few thoughts brought me the correct information, piecing together the scattered pieces of my mind.
Reality hit me like a bird on a stone wall, and with a sudden, instinctive decision, I drew my blade and leaped out of the cage, slicing through a heavily muscled man who'd been running in the direction of Sheila. I didn't understand why, but I knew it felt good to be in control again, and to fight with all my skill, not just my anger.

Sheila, feeling threatened by Kakashi, ran in the other direction, heading for the exit. She knocked out several members of the club as she ran-- men and women alike, as long as they were in her way.
She did not stop until she was a safe distance from the club, where she turned around and stanced, knowing someone was bound to come after her.

I watched as Sheila ran out of the club, and I began to move after her when two extremely large men moved in front of me. With a grimace I realized that she'd left me to clean up the mess, and as two more guards moved in, I realized it was a very big mess.
Sighing I twirled my blade, wishing one attack so I could get out of here.
One of the brutes granted my wish, and I quickly stepped out of his fist's way, twirling my blade upward to cut his arm. It did just that, and more, for I watched in shock as the arm fell to the floor. I looked at the now blood stained weapon uncertainly. It had never done that before, and for a moment I was caught up in that thought, until a big fist began to fly for my head.
I rolled to the ride, stabbing my sword forward and taking out a second guard. As I pulled back I spun in a circle succeeding in cutting through the flesh of another guard's stomach. Sliding my foot out I stopped the spin and cut the sword in an arc, the weapon finding it's mark again.
Flashing a smile I turned and ran out of the door, looking down to street to see if I could find Sheila. I didn't know why, but it felt important to find her. I spied her not to far away, but as I began t move forward something hard contacted with my neck, and the cool sensation of blood soaking through my clothes was the only thought which filled my mind.

Sheila watched from a distance as the turn of event took place. She was going to help Kakashi, one way or another, but she thought she'd see what would happen first.

I could feel the crimson liquid trickling down my back, and slowly but surely I ran through my silver locks to dribble down my face, curving around my wide eyes. It fell from there, shattering on the ground into a thousand tiny drops, which in turn stained the earth a dark red. I leaned over, my hands gripping the dirt as I gasped for breath, trying to draw in oxygen as a dark shadow over took my form. This wasn't the heroic escape I'd had in mind. In fact, it wasn't an escape at all, it was a death sentence.
Nice to see you again, Kakashi.
The shadow sneered, teasingly dragging his sword across my back to draw more blood. I knew who he was, because at one time I had commanded him. Apparently I had been recognized, and with a shuttering breath I grabbed a handful of dirt, spinning on to my back as quickly as I could while I tossed the blood soaked earth into my old companion's eyes.

Sheila, from the shadows and careful not to be seen, plucked something from her hair...
It didn't matter if it hit or not, but Sheila sent a dagger spiralling perfectly at the one who held Kakashi captive, aiming for his distinct head.

The soldier reeled backward as she shielded his eyes with an arm, using the arm to lift his sword. he hung there for a moment... then another... and another... and then be began to waver back and forth, until at last he collapsed at my feet. I watched the lifeless body for a moment, studying the dagger which protruded from the man's head.
More figures moved inside the building, catching my eyes as two men fell out the door and ran away. The movement spurred me into action and, ignoring the pain rippling through my back, I leaned forward, grabbing the dagger and spinning on my heels. I could see Sheila in the distance, and with a playful twirl of the dagger I ran in her direction, sliding to a stop in front of her and handing her the dagger.
Would this be yours?
I asked breathlessly.

Sheila nodded and took the bloody dagger from him. It was the shape of a spade, or in this case, a leaf. For she replaced it back into her rose hairclip, which held her dark hair into its messily pinned bun.
"...That it would be," she said to Kakashi. "And I believe you need to escape here."

Another loud crash sounded behind us as someone was tossed rather violently through a window, followed by a group of men who angrily beat upon him. Obviously our little escape maneuver had caused a riot to break out in the bar, since most of the idiots in there were drunk and didn't know what else to do. It served as a distraction for now, but eventually someone would spy the body outside the doorway, and come after us.
And I believe you need to escape, too.
I responded, turning my pools back to Sheila. I doubted she would really accept in invitation to journey away from here normally, especially since we'd just been trying to kill each other, but in light of recent events and tossed bodies, I hoped she'd accept my help.

"...I will come away with you, if that is what you are getting at," Sheila said bluntly. "HOwever, this does not mean I trust you. And when we reach the next checkpoint, I am liable to part ways with you."
She glared at Kakashi earnestly, letting her response sink into his thoughts. It was clear that these eyes ahd seen the darker side of life-- possibly even more than just that. It would be hard to convince them to trust the appearance of anyone for a while. And with her words sealed, Sheila stalked off, keeping to the shadows as she fled the city, assuming Kakashi to follow.

I muttered a swear word under my breath, calling her a name which I preferred not to use to much. I didn't think we were going to get along well during our little journey, but as a shadowed figure emerged from the club, I understood neither of us really had a choice in the end.
Great, but don't I'm going to trust you, either.
I called out, running after as best I could, wiping away the blood from my eyes. I was careful to keep it from dripping onto my tattoo, for, uh, various reasons.

Sheila didn't expect less of the stranger who helped free her and get her away from the club. She was thankful for such a risk on his part, though she didn't know how to express it. The freed animal sprinted without tiring until she reached a good distance away from the city. Once she was, she climbed a tree and looked back. Under the pale moon, the water by the city glimmered silver.

I sighed and slid to a stop beside the tree, looking up at her and wondering what exactly she was doing. I would have rather continued on until we found somewhere suitable to stay, but it appeared like she was taking the lead here. At least for the night.
Looking at the scenery?
I asked, resting against the trunk. Secretly I was thankful for the rest, and with a muted thump I slid down to the earth, setting my head back so I could watch her. One never knew who was going to stab you in the back.
