Hey everyone! For those of you who might not know, I am co-admin here on Forinasi who is, well... mostly in charge of just keeping things going, but I seem to being doing a rather poor job at that. But I'd like to change that a little, by starting a special event. Long ago we had plans to hold an event, based off of something we did even longer ago on another board, but it never quite... succeeded in happening. But with so many new members and activity, I though I would have a go at reviving the idea.
So! The following are ideas which have been brought up:
A Ball or Masquerade
A fighting tournament
But does anyone have any other ideas? Or comments on the above ideas? Or questions, even? Let's get a bit of a discussion going on this, so we can see if it's worth pursuing.

Yes, deciding the winner is certainly the flaw in the tournament idea. We could have a poll setup, where two people would roleplay out, say... a 10 post fight, and then there would be a poll where everyone votes for a winner. Or we could just flip a coin XD
More than likely it'll be the Masquerade though. I was thinking of tying in a kind of... OC contest into it. Maybe... best designed costume wins some kind of IC prize?
I think that a lot (meaning the mass majority) of RP sites already do Masquerades, not that it isn't a good idea mind you. However, it tends to blend in.
Something you can do that would be different, yet still keep the same basic's as the Masquerade, is a fair, or a circus. (Obviously you'd have to tweak it a little to have it match the story line/time). But that's what I think.
I suppose that's true Naryae. And the circus idea sounds interesting enough Keno. I'm sure that would work. Maybe where it was hosted by a slave trader and some characters are captured. I'm not sure but a lot of ideas could be played out on the circus.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and you'll be in my belly.
If you wanted a lasting event, you could always do a 'missing persons' thing. Where say... the Queen has a daughter and the daughter goes missing - So the Queen blames whatshisface and whatshisface blames whosits all the while they are all looking for whatshername. An event such as that would hit every group (except the Rouges..unless they jumped in) Since each group would be affected by a 'missing persons' regardless of which group it came from.
Not to mention it wouldn't take a whole lot of work, you would just need to have someone make an account that would be the Missing persons, then from there decide if he/she ran away or was kidnapped (and if kidnapped by who) then post up 'fliers' (An announcment) saying that so-in-so is missing and whatshisface is blaming whosit for the disappearance and there is x amount of reward for finding her.
Onora's charcter Nuallan was in the process of finding my character Mirage to try and kidnap her and take her back to Waefae, however Onora hasn't responded to the post in over a year. We could always try and revive that plot, possibly combine it with the circus idea. Like the person gets captured at the circus. Mirage is the Queen's cousin, and she is the rightful heir to the throne, so it would make for an interesting kidnapping story, since she is a high ranking assassin and is already hunted by Waefae's men. Just a suggestion....
The lights go out all around me. One last candle to keep out the night. And then the darkness surrounds me, I know I'm alive but it feels like I've died. And all that's left is to accept that it's over. My dreams ran like sand through the fists that I made. I try to keep warm but I just grow colder. I feel like I"m slipping away.
That could work too, Then no one has to go with the joy have having to make another account. And it was pointed out to me earlier today that you don't necessarily have to have it be a person either. It could be an important artifact such as a book or a jewel that has secret powers/meaning. Either way would make for some excitement.
