Yeah, I think I am. Just grab me if I start wandering in circle.
I said, taking a deep breath to calm myself.
Be a gentleman and help me up, would ya?

Be a gentleman. That's something Pike was best at, if his clumsy side didn't get to him first. Needless to say, he wasn't just clumsy physically... Words weren't exactly his forte either. Bowing as gracefully and awkwardly as he could, he extended a hand. "Of course, ma'am."

I grinned at him, accepting the hand thankfully and rising up. I glanced up at the canopy of trees, trying to spy the sky beyond. Yes, there it was. Looked rather grey, and it made me uncomfortable. I never did like storms.
M... maybe we should keep moving...

Pike looked up, startled by a drop of rain that suddenly plopped down on his cheek. "Yeah... We should probably find somewhere dry to stay. I don't know if we can beat that."

I bit my lip for a moment, looking down the path. Was there really a city at the end of this trail? Or should we head back to the ruins?
OK, choice A of B? Back to the ruins or down the path?

Pike thought for a moment. "...In a choice like that, I always go with the latter. It's a habit."

Mmm, I agree. But I suggest we run!
I replied, glancing back down the path. I just hoped there weren't any squirrels waiting to ambush us.

Without a second thought, Pike grabbed Naryae by the hand and began to sprint. Ah! Something he was very much accustomed to: a pure sprint from the physical strength of his legs. No fancy footwork for fighting, but just a flat-out race to get somewhere quickly.
While they ran, he glanced around, hoping that no other inconveniences would happen along the way.

And nothing did happen, for once. We ran, we left the forest, and we reached the ruins.
I breathed heavily, it had been a far wrong. I hadn't realized we were that far away. The clouds loomed over head, grey arms stretching out.
Erm, seen any overhangs?

Pike slowed down a bit and looked up. Sure enough, he could see the cloudy arms extending from the sky. He squinted, not sure at first glance what to make of it. "I..." And then, his eyes widened. "You don't think that's...?"

Better not be.
I muttered, tightening my grip on Pike's hand as I rocketed forward. I didn't know where I was going, but to my surprise an overhang appeared before me, going far back into a rock and standing high above our heads. Perfect. I thought I even saw a small entrance to a section beneath the rock.

Pike felt himself almost yanked off his feet as Naryae rocketed onwards, and he continued to run at her pace to keep up. He looked up and saw the overhang. "Well, that oughta be some shelther..."

I hope so.
I muttered, dragging him with me under the overhang. I folded downward, too, standing taller in the middle. It was almost perfect.
Uh, got any dinner?

Lightning cracked overhead, sending a roar of thunder through the area. Pike winced and looked up tentatively. He stared up at the gloomy, threatening sky for a moment, and then turned back to Naryae.
"Uh... dinner? No, unless you want to go hunt those bloody squirrels out in the rain."

I gave him one of my "Heck no" looks, and buried myself deeper into the cave, wrapping my cloak nervously around my body. Had to be a thunderstorm, didn't it? Just had to be.
The rain looked like it was horizontal, flying through the sky and crashing on the ground. I might have found that metaphor more amusing... and entertaining, because that's just who I am, if I hadn't been so focused on the thunder, and, more importantly, the wind. It wasn't so much that we could feel the wind in the little over hang, but we sure could hear the wind, and I didn't like that.
Oh, well, um... I've got some... crackers... I think.
I rummaged through the pouch on my hip, searching for anything that looked or felt like a cracker. To my eternal surprised, all I found was crumbs. Lots and lots and lots of crumbs. Apparently when that ogre fell on me yesterday, he crushed my crackers. That sucked.
Yeah, ok, dinner wise, we're screwed. Though I do admit, I wouldn't mid eating a squirrel or two.
Thunder interrupted me, coaxing a scream from my body. Yeah, real brave there, Naryae.
