"Not yet, at the very least," Pike replied, agreeing. "For now, I think I'll personally be okay with what skill I can muster from my past training."
He walked a little ways away from Naryae and looked around. The trees were tall on either side of the road, and there was no sign of any city for miles around. Mountains, maybe. Yes, there were some mountains off to the side in the distance. Otherwise, Pike couldn't see where this path would lead them.
Hopefully to somewhere they could rest without fear of squirrels dropping from trees.

Right, right.
I muttered, averting my eyes with embarrasement.
So, which way? I want to get out of these stupid woods.
I growled.

"Well, we've already decided which fork in the road that we wanted to take somewhere back there," Pike said. "So the only other way to go is to continue forward until we hit something."

Well, let's just hit something inviting.
I replied, sighing as I adjusted my swords. I looked down the path with uncertainty.
Hey, if anything happens, you're aren't going to run off or something, are you?

"Even if I did, where would I go and how far would I get before that something catches up with me?" Pike reasoned. "Honestly. I encounter demon spirits in every shape and form on a regular basis. You don't have to worry about me abandoning you or anything so that I can try to save my own skin."
It was Pike's usual natural instinct to put his companions' well-being before his own, even though some of them had a tendency to take advantage of that trait. It was a little bit naiive of him to do so, but he could care less. Especially where he was now. For all he knew, he wouldn't return home...
He began strolling down the path, whistling a tune.

I smiled to myself, following after him. I felt... relieved. I couldn't count the amount of times I'd been ditched or abandoned. I couldn't say I fully trusted Pike not to leave, but I trusted him more than almost anyone else I'd ever known.
Right, well...
Yeah, good job. Really got a conversation started.

"Shoo fly pie and apple pan dowdy makes my eyes light up and my stomach say howdy," Pike sang quietly to himself. Oh, the glorious days of a cappella in his old high school.

ooc:((-dies of laughter-))
What the heck is that from? And why would you eat fly pie?
I asked, trotting up so I was beside him. He really was a strange person. Good, I liked that. Normal people bored the heck out of me.

"No, no," Pike laughed. "What you do is..."
And he twirled around and continued to sing. "Grab yourself a piece of that pie that's so yummy. It's made up fresh and sweet from molasses and honey."
And he was now almost up in Naryae's face. "But then the flies come around and Mama dunno what to do. So she waves her hands and yells--" He began to wave at the air as if swatting away some flies. "--SHOO FLY SHOO!"
And he danced away from her.

I stood in silence, my mouth hanging open slightly as he danced away. I was truly speechless for the first time in my life. It was... it was... how should I put this? The weirdest event that I had ever experienced in my life.
Wha... did you just... maybe... maybe you hit your head harder then you thought...
I muttered, watching him in shock. Suddenly, I felt laughter welling deep inside of me, and for the strangest reason, I felt like joining him.
So I did.
And I danced after my companion, laughing all the while.
Dad never let me do stuff like this.

Pike was loving every single moment of this chance to let loose his strange passion to sing and make a complete and utter fool of himself. He usually did this alone, and the only other person he felt comfortable doing this around was not here. Besides, Naryae had already seen how much of a klutz he was. He didn't care, and I'm sure she didn't mind too much either... at least he hoped.
And he was reassured of the thought when Naryae actually came over and joined him. Laughing, he grabbed her by the hands and began twirling with her down the path.

Twirling. It was fun, but it was steadily making me dizzy. The trees blurred past and I eventually lost my grip, stumbling around like a drunk and eventually falling on to my butt. Graceful.
Never done that before.

Pike also became really dizzy and eventually found his body stopping while his mind did not. "Really? It's really fun to just twirl around and--OOPH!" He fell flat on his back, laughing. "--let yourself be taken away... A little poetic, but still."

Yeah, let yourself get taken away right into a tree.
I laughed, bracing myself with my arms. The world spun, pretty, twirling colors making my stomach tense. Yeah, that had been a bit stupid.

When Pike had finished laughing, and his head had stopped spinning, he stood up and dusted himself off. Then, he walked over to Naryae and crouched down in front of her. "Feeling okay there?"
