"Sure," I agreed, my voice still a whisper; I was anxious on breaking the pensive mood.
"Though I should warn you," I began, a small, playful smile on my lips, "that I've never climbed a tree in my life."

Kalia looked shocked, and faked that she was hurt. "How could you? Every child had at least climbed one tree in their life! How?" She asked, and grabbed onto the nearest tree branch and swang her self up, so she was sitting on it. "Come on, I'll help you." Kalia fliped over so she was hanging on her knees. "All you need to do is grab on a branch, and pull your self up, then swing your legs up and sit. It's easy." Kalia smiled at Ailiana. "Ready to try?"

I rose an eyebrow. It didn't look so easy to me. There were so many things I hadn't done, though, and wasn't that the point of the small pshycological rebellion I was going through? To find a new me?
I looked up at the tree, which suddenly seemed as unfamiliar as... well, a lot of things to me. A saddle. A sword. I took a deep breath, though, and reached up a hand, grasping a gnarly branch with a clap. The sound was crisp in the swamp void of all sound save soft raindrops.
I took a foot and put it against the trunk of the tree, then used my other to jump up. Once my foot was clear of the ground, I pushed myself up, grabbing onto a branch above the other with my spare hand. Without thinking, I twisted my legs around to wrap around another tree branch, finally putting my arms back on my sides.
I had done it. A slow smile formed on my face as I stood up, wobbling at first before clutching at the branches above me.
"...Wow."

Kalia watched with amusment, but when Ailiana sat up she got up her self. As soon as she got her balance she started clapping. "See! I told you, you can do it! How is it?"

I was about to say something about how it was easy, I had imagined it being harder. But then I looked down. Had I really gone that high? My stomach knotted, and I could feel a scowl on my face.
"...Creepy," I decided, turning my head so I could stare up instead of down. "How do you sleep in a tree, anyway?"

"It's ok, you'll get used to it after a while. Like this." Kalia climbed higher and positioned her self on a small nest that 3 branches made. "You probly won't get much sleep for the first few times, but you'll alright after a while."

I peered upward, trying to find the right limb to rest on. "So... wait," I said, detaching a hand from a branch and holding it up. "How many nights do I have to sleep in a tree, then?"

Kalia looked up at the crone of the tree. "I'm not sure. Depends on how many nights we must spend here."

I looked upward, finding two branches that crossed over themselves. Struggling, I managed to pull myself upward to lie down on the pair, leaning against the tree trunk. I squirmed uncomfortably, trying to ignore the knot of bark stabbing into my side. "Great," I grumbled. "Fantastic."

"Try to get confertable, or you'll be tired tomorrow." Kalia looked over at Ailiana. "No point of tourchering yourself."

There was also no point in trying to get comfortable; it wasn't going to happen. Sighing, I wriggled on the branches, crossing and uncrossing my legs. "'Night," I called out to Kalia, closing my eyes. Just because I couldn't sleep didn't mean I couldn't rest my mind.

Kalia laughed. "Yea, good night. I'll wake you up at sunrise...Try to rest." She said quetly and fell asleep. To her it was just another night, nothing special.

I nodded, though it was too dark for Kalia to see me. It didn't really matter; she'd probably read my mind anyway.
Taking a deep breath, I tensed up all my muscles. Slowly, I released, relaxing each part of my body one by one. My head lolled to the side, but instead of catching it, I let it hang there. True, it was uncomfortable. But my neck wasn't strong enough to support it; I was too tired.
I sort of fell asleep, drifted away half consciously. But it didn't completely quench my need for rest. It would have to do, though, for the rest of the night.

Kalia was asleep with in 5min of geting confertable. But on the other hand unlike Ailiana, Kalia was all ways traveling and not often had the ability to sleep in an Inn. Next morning she woke up early- as soon as the first rays of the sun hit her in the eyes. When she got up Kalia discovered that she was covered in cool dew, and was actually cold. In order to get her self warm and keep Ailiana warm too, she whent down to where her companion was sleeping, positioned her self on a branch and poked her. "Wake up...We have to keep going." She said softly.

My eyebrows twitched after feeling Kalia's poke, and my eyelids managed to flicker open at the sound of her voice. I groaned, rolling over.
Bad idea. I wasn't amazingly high off the ground for my newly discovered fear of heights, but far enough for my fall to hurt. A lot. I cursed loudly at the tree, at Kalia, at me. My eyes were still just barely open, feeling glued to my eyelids. My pupils had yet to dilate, and were oversmall.
I wasn't a morning person. Especially after falling out of a tree in the morning. Standing, I examined the minor scrapes and bruises I had acquired in my fall. "I hate mornings," I grumbled, rubbing my arm angrily.
