"Some shortcut," I grumbled to myself irritably as I stumbled around another mud puddle that threatened to suck the shoes right off my feet. The rainy weather made it all the more disgusting, and the wind blew my hair in front of my eyes mercilessly, obstructing my vision.
Cursing loudly, I tripped over another tree root. My, this was fun. Dodging shady characters, occasionally falling and plunging into the sloppy ground. The few trees did no good for shelter from the steady water, and I attempted once more to brush my blonde hair out of my eyes, only succeeding in dirtying my face even more.
Sighing, I put my pack on the ground and ruffled through it. I pulled out my map, spoke a quick charm against water so it wouldn't be ruined, and began to attempt to pinpoint my location.

"I see your lost..." I said, calmly. Sitting on a tree branch looking down at a stressed figure. "Besides you don't need to curse...you could be heard form miles away!" Then I jumped down, and swinging from branch to branch landed softly in moss. "Need help?"

I narrowed my eyes, trying to analyze her character. How did I know she wasn't going to lead me into some trap involving a man-eating plant and hounds of hell?
That was probably a massive exaggeration. But still. This person might get her kicks by leading people like me into the middle of nowhere, even more lost than previous.
So I had two options. I could just go straight and hope to find my way out of here, or I could take this woman's help. The latter sounded much less stupid.
"No," I began to say. But I paused. How long would it take me to get out of here by myself? Probably a couple of days, knowing me. And I was running low on supplies...
"Yeah," I corrected. "Yeah, I'm lost."

I crossed my arms. "Hey! Just because I'm here, doesnt' mean I'm evil! Besides, I have no reason to lead you to Man-eating plants or Hounds of Hell! I mean who do you thi..." I slaped my hand over my mouth. I really need to learn how to control my cursed power..."I...er...Anyways...Where do you want to get again?"

My eyebrows rose and I tried to control my blush along with my thoughts. "I, er... I'm not really going anywhere," I said, focusing on a tree just behind the woman. "I'm actually just trying to get as far away from Nicondoe as possible. And as fast as I can."
And I made a stupid move and took a detour through a swamp of exiles. Glancing down at my muddy clothes, I realized I probably didn't look so sharp myself, taking note of my watered down clothes stained brown with dirt.
"So... can you help?"

"What can I say...Congradulations...Guess you won't be taking detours from now on..." I smiled. "But don't worry, I'm not one of them...However, I can help you. Come on." And I headed in a direction.

Pausing to weigh my options one last time, I realized that she was already a bit farther ahead of me than I would have liked. I rushed forward, stuffing the map back in my pack in the process and swinging it back over my shoulders.
"Thanks," I muttered, embarassed to be in this sort of situation. "I'm Ailiana, by the way."

"No problem, I'm planing to get out of here anyways...But, I'm Kalia, nice to meet you. Say, where are you from?" I asked laughing to myself, about this strange, embaressed person.

What would be safe to say? I certainly didn't know this woman enough to tell her everything. But how much? I put a choke hold on my thoughts once more, trying to focus on the ground passing beneath me and nothing else. Especially not my past homes. "I'm from Darien originally," I replied in a tight voice I hoped Kalia wouldn't notice.
"What about you?"

Kalia shook her head. "You don't trust me yet do you? It's ok, I don't eather. You don't need to tell me of your homes. But in that case I don't eather." She paused. "I'm from...I...I don't remmember. I traveled so much I guess, I forgot my home." Kalia replied lieing a bit. She did remmember where she's from. But she didn't tell many people about it. Or about her past. "Do you like traveling?"

Someone who forgot their own home? I found this hard to believe. But I didn't say anything; she had as much right to secretive as I did. Instead, I tightened my cloak against the foul weather, looking away and trying to tidy up my hair. It was true I didn't trust her. But I didn't like to have my emotions read so easily.
Get used to it. I had no choice, considering she was my only hope on getting out of the mess I'd put myself in.
"Travelling is one of those things I only do when I have to," I explained with a shrug. "What about you? Why are you here?"

"Your right about getting used to...but...Why I travel? Why am I here? Well...It's hard to explane but I go where I'm needed the most. People call for me, though they never even met or herd of me...I don't even know why..." THat was true. Kalia had no clue why it was like that.

My mouth reacted faster than my thoughts. "That's weird." Only after I spoke did I realize that what I had said might have come off as insulting, when I really hadn't meant for it to be. "Not... weird as in... you know, bad. Weird as in... abnormal," I tried in a desperate attempt to reform my phrasing.
My mind began to slowly work and process though, as I focused on the world in front of me and keeping up with Kalia. "...Did I... call... for you?" I asked, frowning.

"Don't worry you didn't insult me or anything..."Kalia stoped an looked at Ailiana, and smiled. "I don't know...You tell me..." 'Did she call? I heard someone calling but who was it?'Kalia thought

Did I call? I certainly didn't think I'd called. I'd always been the independent sort of person, and I certainly couldn't see myself willingly asking for help. Except for in the situation in which I was in the middle of nowhere. A very dangerous nowhere. In the middle of a storm.
So maybe I had called. Would I know if I'd called? Kalia had said that people who she had never met summoned her, and therefore it was quite possible that they didn't know when they called. But then again...
And now I was just tangling my thoughts into an endless knot. Frowning, I tried to focus on something else. But there was nothing. So I was forced to be content with merely sharpening my attention on putting one foot in front of the other.
"Do you... visit here a lot?" I asked, trying to make harmless conversation while still finding out more about my guide.
