Mirage just grunted in response to his question. The ribs were still broken after all, but up until that moment she hadn't really realized how awkward it must have been for him to have to heal her. "Yes," she hissed through her teeth as sharp pain ripped through her body as she set the cleaned sword down. "Thanks for helping, hopefully it wasn't to awkward for you." She then set to cleaning her knives and daggers, which were numerous. She made sure that all of her arrows were still in good condition, and then wondered why she hadn't just shot the basilisk in the back of the head with them...

Enmire blinked. If there was an awkward time in the last few hours, it was when she said what she did, not when he was healing her. At the time he only had the task at hand on his mind.
"No, it wasn't awkward at all," he muttered, rolling his eyes. Not awkward until now. Being reminded of his actual age (and gender) in such a way was embarassing. Enmire turned away, partly to get his herbs, and when he turned back to her she was cleaning more of her things. "I do wish you'd stop moving around so much, if you're still in pain." He understood the need to care for weapons, but she was not helping her ribs at all.

Mirage realized that she had just made it awkward for him. She wanted to slap herself in the face for it, and she tried to make it less awkward. "Sorry, It's just that If I'd been awake, you might not be living right now. Even though I would have known you were saving my life, I tend to panic and hurt people who touch me, even when I know their intention are honorable and that they will not hurt me. I'm not a very trusting person..." She tried to stop moving so much, but she couldn't. She didn't like being cooped up, and she hated being hurt or sick, especially when on a mission.

Enmire couldn't fault her for that. Didn't he often check his tea for signs of poison? He wondered if she trusted him, although admittedly he couldn't trust her much either. Still, trust had little to do with the fact that Mirage was being a difficult patient.
"This time, at least, you'll have to trust me. We both need you able to ride a horse as soon as possible, but with those ribs right now you'd pass out before we rode for a mile. Or would you rather I unwrap your bandages after all, and replace them with nothing but leaves and splints?" He would have done so earlier, but after being painfully aware of who he was--a young man, not a female healer--he supposed keeping her still would have to do.

Mirage glared at him. She hated sitting still, but she said, "Fine, I'll sit still." She wasn't angry with him, she just hated being injured. "Nothing personal, I just hate being hurt or sick." She laid back down and stared at Enmire.

Despite himself, Enmire heaved a sigh when she laid down. People along her line of work indeed could be expected to be restless when injured, and memories of having to sedate them made him grimace. He then handed her a thick leaf. "Chew on it. And don't worry, it's nothing harmful. It'll just ease the pain a bit."

Mirage eyed the leaf suspiciously. It wasn't that she thought he would try to hurt her, but she didn't totally trust him either. She took the plant gingerly from his hand and began to nibble on it. She wrinkled her nose at its pungent odder and bitter taste. "Why is it that medicine always taste horrible?"

Enmire sighed again, feeling quite tired already from playing healer. Having to summon such detailed memories from too long ago somehow tired him physically too. He started chewing on a leaf himself. This one was to relieve fatigue.
The boy sat back down on a rock and stared at Mirage. She had earned some of this trust the night before. He would usually not bother to mention it, but the saving of lives needed thanking." I did not have a chance to thank you before. Thank you. You saved both of us last night."

"Your welcome," she said as she tentatively nibbled on the leaf. "You will have to learn how to fight more efficiently though. So, whenever you let me move around, I am teaching you how to use a sword, and how to use that walking stick as a lethal weapon." A small smile graced her face and then disappeared as quickly as it had come.

Enmire once again stared at her and replied, "Oh, certainly. We can have practice." His was a knowing smile, and an amused one. True, he did not have the strength and speed of the soldier he had been in a past life, but he did have the technique. He supposed what he needed was a proper fighting style, since it would be near impossible for a scribe who'd only been stuck in a room of books most of his life to effectively use a technique that a trained soldier used.
Enmire stood and added, "But only when you're well enough." He picked up some rope and a knife, and made to leave. At the same time, the drizzle stopped and the sky began to clear. "Well, I'm off to get breakfast."

Mirage rolled her eyes and looked l outside, her gaze following Enmire as he walked into the early morning sunlight. "Can I come along?" she asked. She was already beginning to be annoyed by being stuck in the cave, and she hated being injured. Mira was going stir crazy.

Enmire halted and paused, genuinely considering it. She did look like she couldn't stand being stuck there. "I'd prefer if you stayed here, honestly." And then he saw her watching him hopefully. Enmire sighed heavily and closed his eyes. "You'll be wearing half a dozen splints."

"So can I come or not?" she asked. She started to stand up and ignored the pain in her chest. She began to wonder why she hadn't just shot the basilisk in the back of it's head with a few arrows, then realized that even with her heightened senses about how difficult that would have been to aim. She looked at him, waiting for an answer. How strenuous could fishing really be?

She could always do something like guard a trap or fish, but the problem was getting her from one place to another. Enmire sighed--again, he noticed--in defeat and answered with a nod. "But you'll have to wear at least a couple of splints for your back and side."

She perked up and smiled. "Sure, as long as I get out of this cave!" She was really happy right then because she didn't have to stay in a cave. She hated being inactive.
