"I'm one of the best assassins who works for the queen," Mirage replied flatly. "Most people know not to underestimate me, on account of most people who would want to attack us on a trip know that I assassinated the king and lived to tell about it ," she continued as she began to toy with a dagger. It was an old habit of hers that she did when she felt like fidgeting or got nervous.

He'd been avoiding mention of that rumor. But whether she was saying it in jest or not, it rather made him uncomfortable with his choice of traveling companion. Ah, well. At least she'll keep bandits away. Enmire wasn't incapable of protecting himself, but he didn't like physical violence. Especially if he had to deal it himself.
Laughing sheepishly, he replied, "Well that eases my worries." In a way. He hefted his supplies. "I'll be leaving in two days. There's still some work I have to finish before I go, you see. I live in the shop at the end of the street. We can make the other arrangements there between today and our departure."

Mirage could tell that he seemed nervous now. She knew what it was; it was her being an assassin and admitting to having murdered the king. It was a common reaction among most people. "Working with assassins is something you'll have to get used to now that you're working for the queen. Assassins make up the better part of her army. Just as long as you can hold your own in a fight, if not, I might think about getting another person in on the trip. Whens a good time for you so that we can make arrangements for the trip?" she asked

I wasn't her being an assassin that had unsettled him as much as it was her confidence as an assassin. Nonetheless, it wouldn't hurt if it meant not having to fight himself. Even if he disliked it, he was sure he could fight, but how well exactly he was not sure. His current body didn't experience the battles his mind remembered. "I'll be perfectly safe from anything in Your Ladyship's company. I think my pride can only take being protected by one person." he told her, smiling and slipping out of his unease. "My errands should be done by late in the afternoon tomorrow. You can come then."

Mirage was baffled by this strange man. What's made his sense of adventure leave him, she wondered. Kids his age should love the idea of danger.... "Sure, but I'll need directions."

"Walk along this street," he told her as he pointed, "until the second corner after the bridge. I live in the same building as the copy-shop there." He was convinced she wouldn't be a problem to him, but it wouldn't hurt to test her one more time. If she didn't mind walking through crowded market streets and being in the house of someone of 'less noble' birth perhaps until nighttime, it would mean to him that she would not mind taking orders from a younger boy during the trip.

"Sure thing," Mirage replied. "I assume you will be leading this quest of sorts, so you make the calls, unless you start doing something stupid that will trifle with security, then I make the calls."

That was good enough for him. "Agreed." Now that all was settled, he tilted his head and added, "I will see you tomorrow, then. For now I have to run a few errands."

"Sure," Mirage replied. "Have a nice day," she said as she nodded her head in a slight bow and began to walk back towards the kiosk selling daggers. "Maybe I'll go for a set of throwing knives and a dagger this time around," she mumbled as she once more returned to studying the wears.
