Which is mostly crappy/unfinished.
Okay. Here's her excuse for using a digital camera instead of a scanner; mine broke. I slapped my sketchbook on that sucker, pushed the buttons; nothing. It just sat there. The handbook was thrown away ages ago, and it's my scanner, so it isn't likely that my family will pay for a repair.
And yes, it was plugged in.
Now, I was saving for an old one, but... *twitches/sweats* I kind of spent my savings on a Charmed season on DVD.
It was on sale, okay?!
Anyway. This will have to do until I can get myself enough babysitting gigs to buy a cheap $50.00 one off of amazon.
Which might be a while considering I lost one of my most frequent families by telling the kids if they didn't shut up and go to sleep, a mummy would come out of the closet and kiss them to make their faces turn purple and their hair fall out and apparently, I scarred the poor kiddies for life as they haven't called for me again.
I was tired, alright?! They shouldn't have called me on such short notice anyway...
Now. As most of you know, Nora's kitty was sick. He's been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, and all we need to do is give him a pill every morning to keep the fluid from building up in his lungs. Otherwise, nothing we can do. He'll be fine, though.
While he was sick, though, and I had locked myself up in my room to hold him, sleep with him, read aloud to him, talk to him, etc., I had tons of spare time. Out came the age old VCR, in went the classic disney movies. I saw 'em all. Alice in Wonderland. Peter Pan. Sleeping Beauty. Snow White. Cinderella. And, my personal favorite, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
I talked to Jake about what I would have done if I had been in Cinderella's situation (I would have told the stepmother to go throw herself out the window and went to the ball in my crap dress, no question), and asked him why Esmerelda hadn't just stayed in the Notre Dame, for God's sake! Anyway. After he fell asleep and I was sitting there talking to myself, I pulled out my sketchbook and started to doodle the characters, but portrayed some of them differently. And here is Nora's work.
Sleeping Beauty:

This one is still a working progress. It seemed like the entire movie she had a smile on her face, so I wanted to do something different. So, now she's sad. And, apparently, in the rain. I think that it's her... left hand that hasn't been drawn, and that's because half of it is below the cut off point, and it would have just looked weird.
i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/face.jpg
closer look at her face. Something is very very wrong, but I can't point it out...
This is from a magazine article about... healthy hair or healthy skin or healthy... something like that: i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/shape.jpg
I sketched it at the end of the summer, so I really don't like it as I can point out tons of errors and places in need of detail. Which I will add later. There are a few things I can't explain, though, so I thought you peoples might be able to help me out.
From one of my horse illustrated magazines or something in that ball park: i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/horses.jpg
The random spot ( i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/horsemistake.jpg ) is completely unidentifiable and... random.
Close of the cantering horse: i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/horse1.jpg
I'd have the appaloosa/POA or whatever pair close, but it was really fuzzy and gross looking.
Esmerelda:
i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/esmerelda.jpg Always one of my favorite characters; no, sir, she does not sit around and wait for her prince charming, she kicks butt by herself and the help of her pet goat. You just can't beat the powers of Esmerelda. I'll had shading later.
i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/esmerelda2.jpg
The left hand (what is it with me and left hands not being drawn?) has not been finished, obviously, and there are two random spot thingies that are, once again, unidentifiable ( i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/esmerelda2mistakes.jpg ). Oh, what to do? Anyway, this was basically drawn without a model, and I plan to add scenery around her later. And shading.
Lust:
i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/lust.jpg
Fun, very fun, to draw. It was random, and from a magazine ad. Took me a while, but I'm sort of happy with the result. The face is sort of off, though. suggestions?
The Notebook (yes, I know it isn't a disney movie):
i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/notebook.jpg
One of my favorite movies of all time. Yes, I cry until my eyes are red. But I was already been crying, you see, so it didn't really matter. Anyway, the plan was for me to do a full body portrayal, but the woman's legs are wrapped around the man's waist (in the traditional 'Notebook' way), and, upon putting it upon paper, I saw it was way more sexual than what I, personally, prefer. So I just created a cut off. I might collage in a few other scenes from the movie later.
i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/notebook2.jpg Close up of the couple. Another random spot ( i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/notebookmistake.jpg ) that's going to drive me into insanity. His arm does look wonky, so a few tips on that would be much appreciated.
i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/font-1.jpg
A random sketch of the title of the movie, which I took a random picture of and randomly put it on this post. Random, eh?
Titanic (another not-disney movie):: Rose DeWitt Bukater (seriously. where do you come up with the name DeWitt Bukater?):
i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/rose.jpg
Another fantastic, very sad movie. Again, a favorite. Take note that this sketch is NOT FINISHED. AT ALL. Not even a quarter of the way done. I just wanted to see if you guys had any recommendations/critiques/suggestions on it before I began to add in the necessary heavy shading, hair detail, etc.
And finally. I saved the best for last. I would like you all to meet...
Herbert! i24.photobucket.com/albums/c3/xQuackersx/Art/Herbert.jpg
We had gargoyle day in humanities on friday; and herbert was the result of a very sharp, knife like nail file, a spooon, a potato peeler, and a bar of ivory soap. He looks very greasy and shiny because the camera flash was tarded (take note of the black background) but yes. Keep in mind Herbert is in no way a work of art, and I am aware of this. Upon my teacher's critique, he looked at it and asked, "Is this a baby gargoyle or what?" Indeed, he certainly doesn't look like your traditional grotesque/gargoyle atop the Notre Dame, but the soap wasn't in the mood to cooperate. But he is my baby, and I had to present him to you all.
If you read all of this, you deserve a fountain of cookies and ice cream. Critiques more than welcome <3
