Race: Elf
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Favorite/Best Power(s): Carey's "tattoos" allow her some very interesting powers... such as reaching through flesh as if it were water and strangling an organ. But she's only done that a few times. She's very good with spells and hexes, and can also become a wisp of smoke. Oh, and her favorite power: throwing energy balls that are as dark as the night sky.
Mate/Spouse: Technically, she's married to Kole, although she considers herself divorced.
Family/Ancestry: Oh, just a bunch of elves involved in the dark arts. Nothing special.
Titles/Affiliations: Rogue

Personality: Some say that Carey is as dark as the night that she so cherishes. Many mistake her for evil--quite understandably--and treat her as such; others will claim to think her good but still treat her with a distancing distrust. That's not to say that she cares--in fact, she prefers it this way. Carey is what we call unsocial. She's perfectly content with people not trusting her; after all, it's not like she trusts them. She's not particularly sadistic, but there is no room in her mind or heart for forgiveness. She feels no regret slaying evil beings, but will not harm the innocent. It's rare that she smiles or laughs, and she is most certainly not friendly.
Physical Description: Carey is quite interesting looking. She's not particularly tall, but not short either, with a toned body covered in pale, unfreckled skin. She looks even more fair with the curtains of dark, reddish-black waves that fall around her face. Her eyes are a shocking royal blue; a friend once told her that it was probably because she stared into the sky too much, and eventually her eyes began to mirror it. Her lips are light rosy pink, and her face is softly angled. Overall, once you get past the dark eyebrows and the moonlit skin, Carey is actually quite beautiful. Although most people can't get past the whole "murderess" idea.
History: Carey is descended from a ancient line of elves, well-known for their involvement in darker forms of magic. In fact, the family is responsible for hundreds of deaths, some just slaughter for the sake of slaughter, others were sacrifices to various dark gods. A lot of blood was spilt over the centuries in the name of Arias.
Like many old families, the Arias clan was heavily religious and passionate about their alliance. Their descendants were betrothed at birth to members of other families, so that evil could be kept pure. Carey was no exception. When she was fifteen, her parents married her to a man named Kole Rhames. The Arias and Rhames families had become two of the most powerful dark families; it seemed suitable that they should intermarry. Carey still has nightmares from the "wedding" ritual. Externally, she became the perfect wife: complacent and willing to serve her husband, quiet and out of the way when necessary--she even gave him a son. But behind the scenes, Carey was rebelling. She had "convinced" (hey, I said she was good with spells) the scholars and teachers, her husbands tutors, to apprentice her to their crafts. Within a few years, Carey felt ready to break free... but unfortunately had been found out. Her husband captured her before she and her son could escape and attempted to use her for a sacrifice... hence where the "tattoos" come in. The ritual required pentacles painted onto her arms, on the wrists below her palms. Halfway through the ceremony, just after dear old Kole had burned the marks into her flesh, Carey managed to hex the man watching her as her husband turned away to chant. She barely had time to collect her son as she escaped.
A year after her escape, Carey came home to find her husband's knights waiting for her. She was able to escape... but not before she could stop them from slaying her child. Hurt and more afraid than ever, Carey ran as far as she could and lodged with a man in the woods [the one who mentioned the whole eyes being mirrors thing] who later became her dearest friend... and was also later killed as he tried to protect her.
Carey managed to turn most of her pain into anger... but not enough to keep her from fearing love. She could not bare to love and lose again, and in her new understanding she realized she could also no longer make others feel the same. It was then that she decided to turn away from her heritage, and away from the dark arts. Now over two years since the death of her friend, Carey has hardened her heart and barred her mind, and lives her life very much alone... but always running.
