((*dies* Now that I have free time, someone had better post or I will positively succumb to mortality!))
It was a nice break. Inbetween piercing abdomens with blades, slitting throats with daggers, and puncturing hearts with arrow heads, everyone needed their resting. Nuallan, for one, thought that he had deserved this small lapse of time in which he had nothing to do. The possibilities were endless, he knew, and he was almost paralyzed by the plethora of choices.
He had finally decided, though, upon remaining in Celestine. Admittedly, this narrowed things down. Not only that, but Nuallan still hadn't an inkling as to what he did with his free time. He didn't have anything that would be considered a hobby, and the only thing that stuck in his mind was going to the marketplace to eat. It had been a while since he had been able to have an actually decent meal, and the half-shade was willing to pay whatever it took.
Until he smelled the food. For some reason, the very smell of salty fish, tender meats, and fresh fruits made his stomach turn, and he was forced to pause until the twisting in his belly calmed down. Perhaps he had been living too long on dried fruits and vegetables and bland, unseasoned meat that he would be forced to slowly ease himself back into the idea of consuming rich foods once more. In any case, he decided to sit down on a bench a distance away from the food; this way, he only caught the scent if a sudden gust of wind blew the smells toward him, and that was a comfort.
In reality, this wasn't bad, though. The sun was out, and it warmed his face pleasantly, and his lungs felt clean as they breathed in the fresh air. Although Celestine was something of a corrupted village (what would you expect, with a town full of bloodthirsty, paranoid assassins ?), and these flawless moments were few and far between. He sat back, letting his spine touch the bench, and took in a deeper breath. His feet slipped forward so he was practically reclining, but the temptation of actual relaxation was much too good for him to refuse; so, he remained where he was, completely unperturbed in terms of the goings-on around him.

Waefae wandered through the market streets of his home town. After he had fled because of murdering his family, he had spent several years working for the king, that is before the king had been murdered by a mysteriously cloaked figure. Waefea had managed to get a lightning bolt to strike her before she had escaped, however it seemed that she was still alive. Mirage had been a thorn in his side for years, but now it seemed that she would either die a slow, painful death or become a wraith because of the lightning bolt. At least that should take care of that problem. he thought as he bought a piece of fruit. He had come back and slaughtered the revenge members within his town when the king had been killed. Someone who claimed to be Dante was still alive, however the rumor was that Dante, who was Mirage's brother, had been brutally murdered by the former king when he was only a few years old. Now, his home town was his base, and no one dared to cross him. They feared and respected him far to much to try anything. He then spotted Nuallan, one of the newest blood members, who was sitting at a table, and began to walk towards him.

Upon Nuallan's lifting an eyelid, he saw that none other than Waefae was approaching him. His immediate reaction was dread; was he being given another assignment? At the thought of being sent on another run across Forinasi to chase after some rogue refugee, a headache began to pound behind his eyelids. Perhaps it was even worse though... perhaps he had done something wrong.
Trying not to wince at the thought, Nuallan began to debate how he should react. Jump up to a standing position, greet Waefae warmly? Fall to his knees and grovel? No, no... none of those were right. He should simply stay where he was, decided Nuallan. Act as if he had never seen the powerful wizard, his superior, walking towards him. For all Nuallan knew, Waefae wasn't even here for him. Perhaps he was approaching someone else, and it only appeared he was walking toward Nuallan.
Yes, that made him feel better. The half-shade remained where he was sitting, his legs stretched out before him, his posture horribly slouched. All he could do was hope that Waefae was in a good mood.

Waefae sat down next to Nuallan. "How was your previous mission? I hope it was a success," He said as he began to eat an apple he had swiped from a stand.

He opened his eyes upon hearing the crunch of an apple, remembering his former hunger. That aching in his stomach had been replaced now with nervous turning. Nuallan stole a glance toward Waefae, who continued eating the apple in his hand. The wizard seemed in a fine enough mood, as far as the half-shade could tell. Still, though, he wasn't about to take his chances. He chose to suger-coat the truth.
"I had to chase after him for about half a day," said Nuallan, sparing the fact that it had actually been more like a an entire day, and he had been forced to slaughter two of the Queen's Army in the process. Isandra had soldiers to spare, though, Nuallan had figured, and so he had shamelessly brushed the murders aside. "But I got him in the end. He was quite fast. I was surprised."

Waefae gave Nuallan a hard look. "And what surprised you, his speed, or the fact that it took you all day to catch him?"

There it was. The glare that Nuallan had been dreading, followed by the blunt reply that made him feel extremely ill. It had been a good call, then, not to have anything for lunch...
Nuallan wasn't the type for excuses, but that didn't stop several potential ideas from churning inside of his mind. He had been tired, he had been stabbed in the leg, the weather hadn't been good that day. No, no, no. Fess up to it; if you're about to die, he told himself, do it with dignity.
And so he straightened his back, looking in front of him, making it a point to avoid Waefae's gaze. "Both," said Nuallan, trying to make it sound as if the reply came easily. His legs were still stretched out before him, his heels perched on the ground. "I assure you, sir, it won't happen again."

"That is good to know," replied Waefae, "considering that you are leaving for another mission tomorrow morning." He paused for a moment to throw the apple core into the air. He mumbled a spell and made the apple core vanish into oblivion. "I need you to find and follow Mirage. She is in the Queen's Army, is a well trained assassin, and was a former revenge member. I want you to bring her to me alive. I have something special planned for her. Be careful, and make sure she does not know that you work for me. Do not underestimate her powers either magically or physically."

That was what he had been waiting for. No, more like dreading. Yet another assignment. At the very thought, his bones began to ache. What had he been expecting, though? That Waefae had merely wanted pleasant conversation, followed by a kind good-bye before he strolled away to go about business as usual?
It was then Nuallan realized his options for reply were extremely limited. They included saying yes and running off across Forinasi in search of yet another ruthless female assassin, or saying no and running off across Forinasi in fear of Waefae's rage. Needless to say, neither sounded affable.
Slowly, Nuallan corrected his posture. He straightened his back, brought his legs closer to the bench, folded his hands in his lap. "Yes, sir," he finally managed, decided it was the safest reply; although not necessarily the wisest.
"Where might I find her?" said the half-shade, rotating his head in order to maintain an obedient gaze toward Waefae.

"Mirage could be anywhere. However, the two most likely places are the Royal City, and Heulandite. She's a half shade, so you two will have something in common. She trusts almost no one, if anyone, so be careful. She's smarter than most former refugees. Complete this mission well, and you'll get a promotion. Fail, and I'll not be so merciful."

Nuallan nodded slowly, the gears in his mind already turning. He would go to Heulandite first, he decided. See if she was there. After all, there was no point in going to the Royal City first, as he would probably get into some sort of brawl with one of the Queen's Army, and that would only lead to attention he didn't want and...
If she didn't trust anyone, he realized, how was he supposed to lead her on? Typically in these situations, he would either try to fool the person into thinking they had met him before and he needed their help... or he would simply beat them senseless, tie them up, then drag them back to Celestine in a half-conscious state. Something told him that the second wouldn't work on Mirage; she sounded much too powerful. Not to mention how he wouldn't feel very comfortable hitting a woman, admittedly.
Still in thought, Nuallan stood. "I'll be back, then," he murmured, marching toward the stables to begin the long journey.

Waefae nodded and walked away. He would return to his castle and hope that Nuallan wouldn't mess up or do anything stupid. Mirage had to be dealt with, and soon. She was a danger to them, far more dangerous than any other former revenge member.
