((ooc: everyone had better post or I shall eat you for tomorrow morning's breakfast))
It was late, and Kasanda was tired. Her legs and arms felt unusually heavy as the woman tread across a street, rubbing her arms with a yawn. Where would she sleep today? Perhaps she could chance an inn and hope for the best. Or she could turn into a cat and find a small niche to curl into...
Something rubbed against her calves, and she glanced down to see Cat there, weaving in and out of her legs as a game. Of course, Kasanda saw no humor in said game. But then again, she saw humor in rarely anything anymore. She kneeled down to scoop him up before continuing on.
Down the road was a bustling tavern. Golden light pooled onto the street from the windows, seeming to beckon Kasanda warmly. Yes, a drink sounded good...
A small smile on her face, Kasanda swung open the door and entered the tavern. Fires crackling, loud voices, merry laughing. Yes, she was right to come in her. Grabbing a seat at the bar, Kasanda ordered an ale briskly before glancing over her shoulder to survey her surroundings.

Kazeielan's long, graceful strides carried him down the street swiftly. He was sore, very sore, but when was he not these days? Everyone always seemed to want to fight him, always seemed to want to start something that he knew vey well they could not finish. All he wanted was peace a quite, for once, just a little while alone to his thoughts, however mad they may be. He spies a tavern, not far off. Oh yes, there are people there, but, he prays tht they will not fight. Kazeielan draws his coat tighter around his narrow shoulders, the thick black fur lining stark against his pale cheeks. He sighs and walks in, pushing the door open with as little force as he can manage, though he is taired and it is often hard to control himself at times like this. All he hops for is not to rip the dorr of of its hinges. He glances around, his dark eyes locking on a seat by the fire. Just what his shivering frame needs. Kazeielan takes off the coat, drapes it over the back of the chair and sits as close to the fire as he can without scorching his intracately patterened clothes. He waves over a wiatress and orders his customary absinthe, and as she walks away, he buries his hands in his hair and sighs again.

Hogosha walked beside me, the black wolf strutting confidently down the street. Much more then me. I might not have had armies hunting me anymore, but years of such experience don't exactly allow you to forget the "cautionary" thoughts that plague your every step. And tonight was no exception. The streets were filled with people, and I knew walking around me somewhere was a girl I still counted as an enemy, to some degree at least. But I had a bit of comfort tonight, because now she was the one being hunted. I had no doubt he Blood Revenge had it's eyes on me, a freelance assassin working with the Queen, but they seemed pretty darn focused on eradicating every last mercenary.
Beer, now.
Tanin demanded in my head, drawing a sigh from me. At least it was a different command then the "Kill, kill everything!" one he so favored.
Hey, Mira, let's stop off at a tavern, ok?
It wasn't so much of a request as a command... well, no, I would 't dare command her around, it was more of an... insistence, yeah. If she didn't like the idea, she was going to have to physically drag me out of the bar, and I wasn't totally sure she could do that, even being.. her.
I walked inside, trying not to seem to important or anything, as as eye wandered in my direction, I bit my lip, turning around and out the door. Hogosha stayed behind, tilting his head in confusion as I left him inside. I stood in the shadows for a short time, finger the silk cloth in my pocket. The words of the queen rang through my head. "The longer you hide, the easier it's going to be for them to find you, Daemon. Your face is well known now, simply because of the fact that no one nows what it looks like."
She's right, you know.
Don't need the running commentary, thanks.
I growled back, ripping the mask down from my face. Fine, we'd test her theory tonight. Let's see if her words were true. Besides, it really was time for me to change.
Spinning around, I burst int he bar, and stopped short next to my companion.
... Kaze?

Mirage walked in to the tavern, then turned around realizing that Daemon had gone back outside. She bumped into a man and at first didn't recognize him, but then realized that she was looking at Daemon. Mirage shook herself and began to walk over to the bar when she heard Daemon say someone's name. "Who's Kaze?" Mirage asked as she sat down and ordered a glass of red wine.

A man who seemed remarkably ragged walked into the bar and sat dramatically close to the fire. Kasanda watched him for a moment with a wary eye, but was quickly distracted as her order was slid into a position in front of her. Fantastic.
A man with a woman also strolled into the tavern, but Kasanda decided to focus on her own troubles. Cat was coming much to close to her beer with a greedy flicker in his eyes, and she swatted at him irritably. "Get your own," murmured Kasanda, although as she said this, it occured to her he couldn't.
He seemed to glare at her for a few moments before jumping off the bar and starting over to inspect some of the other patrons to see if they might spare some of their drinks. Kasanda followed him with her eyes, hoping he didn't do anything to get either of them in trouble.

I almost never travel to over-crowded towns or cities, but I had made an exception for Heulandite. It's powerful magical aura was good for protection; it's huge crowds weren't. To keep my face hidden, I wore a deep, blood red cloak; oddly enough, hudes and shady looking characters actually fit in better than those who show faces. This tends to attract people of the criminal variety.
I decided to move taverns, seeing as how the people working at the last one were evidently very dim-witted. I had... uh... borrowed a nice sorrel mare and stored her within the tavern's stable before entering the crowded building. There I was almost run over by several scurrying waitresses and maids. I grumbled a little and then looked around, spotting an empty table against the back wall. It was the last one, and so I made for it swiftly and parked myself in a chair, which wobbled suspiciously as it took on my weight. Then I pulled back my hood and called over a waitress.
I ordered a nice cup of tea--yes, tea. I'm not a fan of alcohol, seeing how it clowds the senses and all. I prefer to be alert. Speaking of being alert, I pretended to take a long drag of the steaming stuff as I looked around the tavern (I do this quite a lot, seeing as how some people get antsy if they think they're being looked at...then again, I think most of the people here were too drunk to notice.) There are always some interesting characters, for instance: the girl sitting with a cat who was apparently after her drink, the guy with the bald head and huge girth trying to romance a waitress, the man and woman with the black wolf, the lady singing very badly on stage, and the scarred man slumped in a chair by the fire. Yep, very curious folk indeed.
A swaggering man grinned at me from across the bar and looked like he planned to join me, so I fixed him with a nasty glare and threw my leg across the chair next to me. Two seats were left at my table, two of very few left, and I wasn't about to give them to some loon... not that there were many who I'd deem non-loons.

Kazeielan's eyes shoot up as he hears his name. He does not give it freely, and besides, he knows the voice. Well. It brings recollections of death, first and foremost, of course. That his how his warped little minds works. And then it brings something like friendship, something he has not known in a very long time. A small smile comes to his face, softening his sharp features. Again with his catlike grace, re-dons his coat and walks over toward them, sitting almost off to the side from the two, especially the woman.
"Daemon..."
His voice is heavy, tired, and yet, almost as overwhelmingly beautiful as the rest of him. He runs his fingers through his thick, blood-red hair.
"It has been quite a long time. "
Now, he glances at the woman, his gaze icy as he regards her almost as if she is a threat. She may very well be, to him. A threat until deemed otherwise.
"Forgive my horrendous manners. My name is Kaze, as I do not doubt you have already heard."
He dips his head in something like a bow. Amazing how is manners are so perfect, even when he is wary and tired.

Eh heh...
I flash something like a smile, nervously watching as he sat down next to Mirage. Well, now that was a sight. Two people who had, maybe even have, a strong interest in ending my life shooting the breeze with each other. What a great way to strain my nerves.
Hogosha bumped my leg, scratching his head on my conveniently placed leg. I glared down at him, but he simply wagged his tail, sending napkins and paper flying through the room. Great, the "let's kill Daemon" total just went from two to 21. Actually, 22. That big bald guy could count as two, no problem.
Go sit down.
I muttered, moving to the opposite side of Kaze and sitting down, quiet by accident gracing the lovely lady nearby with my presence.. and gracing her cat, two, who seemed to be pleased with wandering down the bar top.
I glanced at the two, figuring Kaze less likely to kill me then Mirage. Mirage still seemed to have a lot of fire left in her.
No... hard feelings, right?
I laughed quietly, nudging Kazeielan as I winked at the lady beside me.

Kasanda exhaled grandly as a man sat beside her, deep in conversation with the tired man and the woman he had walked into the tavern with. Great. Glancing around the room briefly, she saw a woman with her leg extended out so her foot rested in the chair across from her. It wasn't a bad idea.
The man next to her laughed in a quiet manner, and then he offered a wink to Kasanda. She stopped in her reaching for her drink, staring at him with an expression of surprise across her face. And then she was angry.
Don't lose your temper, she warned herself. Unwanted attention was just that. Unwanted. So she took a deep breath and turned brusquely away, gripping the mug in her hand fiercely. Glancing at the woman who was taking up two chairs, Kasanda began to wish she had thought to do the same.
Cat missed the entire procession, as he had found the girl with her leg on the chair opposite her quite interesting. Her drink also smelled much nicer than the other strong, alcoholic beverages in everyone else's hands. Jumping atop the table she was sitting at, Cat craned his neck closer to the tea, wondering if the woman might mind to share.

I grinned as the cat jumped onto my table to investigate my drink, and pushed the mug forward to offer him a drink. I wondered vaguely if he'd like hot tea. I had always been a believer in equality between all creatures, and so I ignored the looks people were giving me as I offered tea to the cat.
I glanced over to the cat's owner and smiled gently; nothing too nice--I didn't want her thinking this gave us some weird connection that led to friendship. I had seen people become friends for a lot less.
I returned my attention to the cat, sticking my fingers out for him to smell.
How you doing little guy?

Mirage shifted uneasily as the man that Daemon had called Kaze sat down next to her. "I'm Mirage. If you don't mind me asking, how do you know Daemon?" Mirage asked curiously. Best if I don't let him see that I'm nervous, she thought. She was alert. So far Kaze had done nothing to threaten her, but she was suspicious of everyone these days.

Another visitor entered the tavern silently and made his way over to the bartender's counter. His thick, black boots made went "thunk, thunk" on the floor with each step that he took, and there was a slight jingle of coins or a chain within his dark overcoat as he moved.
He sat at the bar and put his head down, raising his hand. "Just a shot of non-alcoholic rum, please."

"No. It was as much my fault as it is yours."
His voice is almost vague, and the only trace of emotion revealed in the humorless laughter in his voice.
"Death is to me like- breathing, let me say- is to you. Though I do... tend to get a little... carried away."
Again, that same almost mournful laugh. He watches with cautious eyes as another man walks in. Red hair and dark green eyes, much like Kazeielan himself. Odd. He turns to the girl again, and stares in silence. He takes a swig of his absinthe, the firely liquid bringing a brightness to his eyes. It has always had a way of waking him up.
"It is a fairly... complex story. But I will say that we have spilled eachother's blood."

Carried away? That's an understatement.
Shut-up, as long as he isn't trying to kill us, we should leave it at that.
I remarked, glaring angrily at the bartender for no apparent reason. He glanced around himself nervously, slowly backing away from my glare.
You're scaring people. Oops, heh heh...
I sighed as the girl I'd been.. no, scratch that, I'd attempted to flirt with turned away from me. And to top it off, so new kid was coming in. There probably when my chances with any of the girls in here.
I turned back around in my seat, sourly twirling a glass of alcohol on the table. I didn't even remember ordering a drink, but whatever. No one was arguing.

"Wait, you two tried to kill each other, one of whom may have succeeded in doing so, and now your going to sit here and have a nice conversation!?" Mirage was mystified. As she thought about it, Daemon had done things that she found well quite unexpected considering what she knew of his past. This was pretty high up there on the list of unexpected things that he was doing. "Kaze, you're not a shade are you?" Mirage had only seen one full blooded shade, and that had been her mother. She did not know much about many shades, just that her mother had been kind and loving, while most shades were evil or at least not so well tempered as her mother had been.
