Leazra clenched her teeth, suppressing her urges to scream out in pain. "Freaking vezdert got my good arm!" he strained to say.
As Kakashi serached, he couldn't find anyone. No assassin in the visible area, nor anyone carrying a bow or crossbow. The culprit had disappeared.

Maybe you would like to tell me who this vezdert is so I can go shove a knife down his throat?
I growled, trying to help her up. So my hunch had been right, as always, but this was one of those times I really wished it hadn't been.

"I dunno who the hell would want to kill me yet!" Leazra strained. She tried to yank the arrow out, only to cause herself more pain in failing to.

You'll never get it out that way.
I added, grabbing her shoulder. I wrapped my hand around the arrow stem, narrowing my eyes.
Prepare to start screaming.
I muttered. Not wanting to give her time to think about what I was going to do, I pulled as hard as I could, feeling the arrow slipping from her shoulder. It's end was bathed in crimson, and it slowly began to slip form my hands. It felt almost as if... it was breaking.

Leazra screamed for sure. She even began to cry, but she choked back her tears, not wanting to show any sign of weakness in her character. She pulled her shoulder the opposite way in which Kakashi was pulling the arrow, hoping that the shaft would slip out cleanly...

The shaft came out cleanly, and I tossed it off to the side in disgust. My eyes turned back to Leazra, but my mind was thinking on her comfort, it was more focused on the danger. They was someone after her, and that meant that there was a better chance of the King discovering where I was.
Can you get up? We can't go anywhere tonight, that shoulder isn't going to withstand bouncing up and down on a horse.
I said calmly, feeling my emotions fading away. I'd seen stuff like this a thousand times when I was in the King's army, and after a while I had developed a way to deal with watching my friends and companions die in my arms. I knew Leazra was far from dying but I needed a clear mind, she could be wrong about the danger, or there could be someone else around the corner.

"Gah..."
Leazra rose to her feet, holding her shoulder and shakily standing. Her rich golden hair had untidily fallen around her face, but it covered some of her hot, angry tears. How could she let her guard down like that?
"Fine..." she snuffed. "Lead the way..."

I nodded, slipping silently down the streets, my hand wrapped gently around Leazra's arm. I looked in to several inns and taverns, but none of them would work. The place had to be clean, we couldn't risk and infection.
Near the end of the road a large, grand inn rose above the others, it's clean walls and equally clean patrons giving us curious glances as we entered.
We need a room with two beds, please.
I announced in a hush tone to the inn keeper. He nodded waddling off to get a key.

"A single room, Kakashi?" Leazra asked, surprised. "Why not two rooms?"

Because this place is pricey, and we can't afford anything more. And I don't think we can steal that much money without brining down suspicion on ourselves.
I replied, wanting to give her a clear, logical reason. I had a feeling she might not be satisfied with that, or maybe i wasn't satisfied with that myself, so I said more.
And, well, it's safer that way. This isn't a problem, is it?
I asked, not really wanting to know if it was. I was still in that mindset, Captain Kakashi looking out for one of his soldiers. Lea was not a subordinate of mine, but, hey, what can you do when you mind tells you stuff like this?

"Honestly, do you think it's a good idea to try to take advantage of me right now?" Leazra said, though Kakashi couldn't really tell if her tone was joking or serious due to the strain in her voice.
But it didn't look like she was going to protest any further about sharing a room. True enough, there was safety in numbers-- and for sure, Leazra would need safety in her injured condition.

Yes, Lea, that's been my plan all along, couldn't you tell?
I replied, glaring at her over my shoulder. My sense of humor was missing, right then.
I accepted the keys, glancing up the stairs.
Can you make it up them?

"Of course I can," Leazra said defiantly, the strain still strong in her voice. She began to walk up the stairs, a little wobbily. She seemed to be making good progress, but then she stopped and rested halfway up.

Do you want me to carry you?
I asked, not sure if I was serious or not. I glanced up and down the stairwell, wanting to get a clear view. Clear view of what? Everything. The soldier in me told me to check everything out, make sue it was safe.

Leazra felt an uncharacteristic blush rise in her cheeks, which she quickly suppressed by making her mind focus on something less embarrassing.
"Carry me...? Well, eh... Are you sure about that?" Though the mind focusing on something less embarrassing didn't quite reach her mouth in time.
