HAZME
Damzel in distress? You must be joking.
>> the basics
Race: Dragon
Age: 64
Sex: female
Affiliations: Blood Revenge
Favorite/Best Power(s): Fire-breathing, flight, and of course sharp claws. In addition, Hazme possesses one of if not the toughest hide of all dragon breeds. She is practically invulnerable to most weapons, unless they are tempered with magic. When she shapeshifts, she retains her abilities in dragon form--which means this skinny woman has the strength of a thirty-foot dragon, and can basically parry swords with her forearm. This does not mean her insides are invulnerable, though.
>> back story
Mate/Spouse: She has not seen him in more than thirty years, and he is most likely dead if not in some faraway land.
Family/Ancestry: She was born from two of a special kind of firebreather; her parents are both long dead. Her son Washi is still alive, well, and somewhere else.
History:
Hazme was orphaned as a dragonet. When her family was hunted in her own forest, she was told to flee to the mountains no matter what, and so she did. Hazme braved the strong and cold winds to reach a den of dragons in the mountain tops. There she lived for years while kept safe by the altitude and harsh weather. Food was scarce, but it was well enough for dragons who would otherwise be killed in the lowlands. This isolation made it a wonder how a small, wingless dragon like Hazme's mate ever made it to the den.
Lan Fou, as he introduced himself, was travelling the realm to search for other dragons and learn from them. In the mountains, all dragons were welcome, so they let him stay as long as he needed to. What happened between him and Hazme during that time was a result of physical attraction and nothing more, or at least that was what both of them would say. Nontheless Lan Fou left as scheduled and Hazme never heard from him again. What Lan Fou left behind was something she treasured more than her own life--a son. Washi hatched almost four years later, much smaller than expected. She cared for him regardless, so much so that when life in the mountains seemed hard for him she brought him to the lowlands.
It was a difficult decision, considering what had happened to her as a dragonet, but she'd hoped that things would have changed. They did: dragons weren't fleeing; they were fighting back. Hazme came across the Sanguine Revenge, discovered who killed her family, and decided to oppose the King.
As a member of the Revenge, she also discovered why her family was killed. It was because of their hide. Hazme's breed was hunted down to create a rare armor. This practice was stopped years ago, though, as she would soon find out. During a key attack on a large party of the Revenge, she was fatally wounded. In the confusion and hurry for escape, her comrades thought her dead and had to abandon her. The King's forces then captured her alive and forced her to fight for them. For several years, she was away from her son, forced to fight her former comrades, and when she wasn't used as a weapon she was chained and collared. Her only consolation was being able to hide her identity from the people she had to fight against. Hazme's hate against the Kingdom grew, until all thoughts of her only son were eclipsed by plans for revenge.
When the King died, only then was Hazme set free. However, she wasn't satisfied. It wasn't just the King who desrved retribution--it was the Kingdom itself, the organization of beings that caused such 'evil'. As long as it existed, it would never be safe for dragons--or anyone else. She had to destroy it. She had to burn everything to cinders. While she was being led out of the prison, Hazme lashed out and started burning everything she could reach. She was soon subdued with magic and thrown back in prison. Months later, a member of the Blood Revenge came and freed her in exchange for her services to Waefae the wizard. Hazme agreed. At the moment they had the same goal: to bring down the reigning Queen. If Waefae was going to use her, she would use him as well. Meanwhile, in the back of her mind thoughts of her son still remained, but Hazme could only hope that he was doing well and that she would not have to go against him one day.
>> more in depth
Personality:
Hazme is brazen and proud. She doesn't seem to mind dying, either, the way she can jump into battle without fear. She has survived many of them (battles, that is), and thus she has a keen instinct for them. She remains calm when fighting and rarely loses her concentration. She is sometimes merciless, and even her normal actions and words hardly take other people's feelings into consideration. It's not that she doesn't notice she's being rude, she just doesn't care.
Despite her upbringing and bluntness, she carries herself with a kind of elegance perhaps brought about by her age. She is keen and observant. She is also cynical, and she holds grudges for a very long time. When Hazme is angry, she is cruel. A wrong done to her is paid back ten times the severity.
Whatever else she is, Hazme is a woman and a mother. To those she truly loves she is caring and considerate. Unfortunately her softer side doesn't show very often, since the wall around her heart is practically as impenetrable as her hide.
>> physical description
Human form:
Shapeshifted, Hazme appears as a petite-looking woman in her twenties dressed in flowing red robes. She has long, wavy, black hair, which is usually tied up. She is pale, and her gray eyes have shadows underneath them. Her features are delicate, not at all indicative of her true form and strength.
