Mirage held Kaz's reigns in her hands and mounted. "Alright, to the woods it is then. Lead on." Mirage road out behind Queen Isandra until the path widened and then she rode beside the queen. "So what's it like ruling a country?" Mirage asked.

Isandra frowned slightly in thought. She didn't want to fully say that it was horrible, even though she often felt that way. But she couldn't say she loved it.
It's... well... not particularly amazing. It's duty, and a struggle. I wouldn't give it up, since it would probably just be overrun with evil again, but... sometimes I really don't like it. It's definately stressful, considering all the spies these overlords try to send to my court. Right before you came, I watched my guards, erm... question a spy. It can be gruesome, but it has to be done.
She sighed as the trees began getting thicker, and the world began getting quieter. The only sounds that filled her ears now were the chirping of birds and the chattering of squirrels. It was peaceful.
So where have you been for the last twenty or so years?

"Well, I worked for the Sanguine Revenge before an old associate of mine betrayed as all, and I was once more forced to flee from the king. I've been wondering around now for years, seeking out and destroying those who ruined my life. But then I bumped into Daemon down in Heulandite. We fought... I'm still not used to the fact that he is good now. He's changed so much since his days among the Sanguine Revenge. He told me you were my cousin, and so I came here to meet you and ask if I could be in your army," Mirage answered. "Why was I never introduced to you when I lived in the palace? And where were you for all these past years?" she asked.

For a moment, the queen looked exhausted as she thought about what her cousin said. It was so tragic that almost everyone's story these days was filled with destruction and sadness. And as queen, she wanted dearly to end those days. If only there were no Waefae.
Our dear grandfather thought that since I was a bastard, that I was complete trash. He refused to let me near you, his nice little legitimate child. I never had the chance to meet you before you left. I grew up in the castle, living with my mother, your aunt. When she died I went to live in her country home, near the outskirts of the kingdom. I had no idea your father died until a messenger came and brought me to the castle.
She shrugged, looking around at the forest. When the path she was seeking came, she led Estrelo down it and gestured to her cousin.
We'll take this path for as long as it goes, which isn't all that far. It will fade into forest and we'll just go through the trees until we reach the falls.

Mirage road along in silence as she followed her cousin down the narrow path. "Have you ever been betrayed by someone you thought was a friend?" Mirage asked.

Isandra started slightly at the question, then frowned slightly. That was a random question.
Well... no. I guess I can't say that I have.... I haven't had any friends besides my mother. Why do you ask?

Mirage chose her words carefully before answering. "Daemon was the one who betrayed the Sanguine Revenge. I'm still having trouble overcoming my hatred towards him. I attempted to kill him when I first saw him in Heulandite. He seems so different from the man I know he was, and I still don't know if I should trust him or not," Mirage finally said, wondering if she should have revealed that he had been the one to betray her to the now deceased king.

Isandra wasn't phased by Mirage's confessions. After all, her spies told her plenty of information, so she had a variety of ideas and possibilites for the rebellions.
As a queen, I'd say you shouldn't trust anyone, no matter what. Being suspicious is what keeps you alive. But as your cousin... I'd say follow your instincts. If you can overcome his wrongdoings and still want to be in his presence, then go for it. But guard yourself, and don't let him do it again.

"See that's the thing. I've been so caught up in my numerous vendettas against everyone who ever hurt me that I've forgotten how to forgive. I would like to trust Daemon, but I can't seem to get past what he did to me. The first time I saw him after his betrayal I wanted to stick a dagger right between his shoulder blades, but I couldn't for some reason. I hadn't had any qualms about killing my father, but I couldn't kill Daemon..."Mirage stopped and looked at Queen Isandra, wondering how much more open she should be with a women she had just met and a cousin she had just found out she had.

Jade pondered for a moment before answering. Well, for whatever reason you killed your father, I'm sure most of Forinasi is grateful. As for learning how to forgive... I'm not one to give advice on that. I suppose the fact that you still couldn't kill him should mean something. And since Daemon is one of my best, I'm quite glad you didn't. I say give it time, and see how it goes. Don't be rash while you're clouded with anger.

"I find that difficult to do, since when I'm angry I tend to listen to the half of me that is shade rather than the elven half," Mirage replied. "But I guess your right, I need to give this time. What do you mean that Daemon's one of your best?" Mirage asked. This sounded like it would prove an interesting story.

The queen grinned. Oh, I know how that is. I'm half shade and half elf as well. As far as Daemon being the best... some of that is confidential, but essentially he just knows how to get the job done well. Jade wasn't entirely confident about divulging too much information on what jobs she gave her people.

"Yep, he's definitely changed over the last ten or twenty years. He would switch sides for no apparent reason and betray people to save his skin, and now he's loyal and hard working. How did that happen?" Mirage asked. "I mean most people don't just wake up one day and say that they don't want to be evil anymore..."

With a small grin, Isandra glanced over at her cousin. I suppose he's only good to me so long as I offer the best deal. And considering I'm queen.... Isandra shrugged. I can pretty much offer the best deals around... unless of course you go to Waefae. The Queen spat the name with loathing. How she hated that monster.
She tried to change the subject a bit, still a little bit uncomfortable. So what are your hobbies these days? Your passions? Your pasttimes?
OOC: Sorry it took so long for me to answer =/

"Well, I haven't had much time for hobbies, passions, or pastimes these days, that is unless you consider obsessing over hunting down and killing everyone who ever harmed you a past time. I mostly deal with sword play, so other than that I have no hobbies. For a long time revenge was my passion, but I'm trying to fix that problem. Now my passion, hobby, and pastime is getting rid of that blasted wizard and all those who fight for him," Mirage replied. "I would also like to solve the problem of my powers which have been affected by a wizard's lightning bolt thus making them hard to depend upon in hard situations."
