Enmire glanced at the list his father gave him and sighed. Sometimes the man could forget that his son had seven past lives. True, Enmire had no experience traveling, but Sofus, Irvine, and Daquan did, so that should amount to something. His father needn't really worry about him going off to Ruby Mountain on his own.
Still, the young scribe followed his father's instructions and bought everything on the list--supplies for his journey. He was being sent to Ruby Mountain to get copies of city records. It wasn't really his job to do so, but the Royal Archives was short of messengers and scribes at the moment. Enmire thought it would be an honor to be of service to the Queen who brought peace to Forinasi. Well, it wasn't complete peace, but it was something.
He slipped the piece of paper into his pocket and picked up the bag he'd left on the floor, then went to inspect the traveling coats at one of the stands.

Mirage was walking through the streets, searching for a new dagger. She somehow always lost at least one dagger per trip, and it was getting expensive to constantly replace them. A stranger caught her eye as she inspected the daggers. She remembered seeing him working in the Royal Archives once, but forgot his name. She started to walk over to him.

Enmire had just picked out a heavy cloak. He'd turned to pull out his purse when his gaze fell on a woman he thought looked familiar. She was coming towards him. He paused, taking a moment to recall who she was. With all his memories, a face and a name took a while to come up if he wasn't too familiar with someone. And then he remembered. Ah. It was the former King's daughter. Assuming she was only walking in his direction, he turned back to the trader in front of him and paid for his cloak.

Mirage walked over to him and asked, "What's your name?" She really had forgotten what his name was, considering she knew a lot of people, most of whom had either been killed by her or by someone else.

He was a but surprised that she'd actually come to him. As far as he knew he wasn't anyone of importance to a noble, and he hadn't even spoken to her before. Enmire tilted his head towards her; he didn't want to draw attention by bowing in a market place.
"Enmire Gael, my lady." he answered clearly but in a low voice, but loud enough for her to hear.

"No need to be so formal Enmire," Mirage said. "I try to keep that part of my past a secret from the average people. Just call me Mirage. What brings you out from the dim lighting of the Archives, an adventure perhaps?"

"Yes, you could say that." He nodded, easing a social smile onto his face. Enmire figured she'd remember him from when he helped with his father's work. "Not quite far from work at the Archives, though. I've been sent on business, but I'm looking forward to the journey."

"Where are you head to?" Mirage asked. If the queen doesn't need me to go anywhere, I might tag a long, she thought.

"Ruby Mountain." he answered. Enmire was starting to feel like he could guess where the conversation was going. It was no trouble, he thought.

"If the queen doesn't need me to go on a mission, would it be alright if I joined you on your quest?" Mirage asked. She had never been to Ruby Mountain before, and she wanted an adventure.

Enmire nodded. "Of course." Though the word 'quest' carried more grandeur than what the journey had in reality, he supposed traveling with Mirage should make things more interesting. Wait. He blinked, wondering if his last thought was his own or something that surfaced from his memories. Perhaps his past lives had more influence on him than he thought. "We'll be traveling on horseback, if it's alright with you."

"Traveling on horseback is fine with me," Mirage said. "What else do you need to do before we go on this quest, or whatever it is? I'll have to ask the queen if I can go, but I don't think I'll have any problems getting cleared to go."

He didn't have to tell her they were travelling light, and he didn't think they needed anything else besides basic supplies. "You're free to bring along guards. We never know when bandits might strike, especially if we take a trade route." He knew of one. It wasn't the safest path from bandits hoping to catch a trader's caravan, but it was the shortest and it went through least perilous topography. "Of course, if you prefer another route..." he trailed.

Mirage looked at him confusedly. "Why would we need guards?" she asked. " Besides, most people who know what's good for them try not to mess with me, that is unless they have a death wish, so we should be quite safe, no matter which route we take. It's an adventure, they're supposed to be dangerous."

Enmire raised an eyebrow at her but later shrugged. How old was he exactly to lose his thirst for adventure? He was dealing with things with too much practicality for a boy younger than Mirage. I should really keep myself in check.
"I was worrying for nothing, then, if you feel you can take on any danger that might come our way." he said truthfully. He would be glad for a companion who could handle herself. "I hope you're as reliable as you sound." he added with a smile.
