ENMIRE GAEL
“Enmire the 8th” or “Enmire the 8th of Sofus” (that is, Sofus’ eighth incarnation)
I am not so foolish as to desire revenge. Now JUSTICE…that is something else.
>> the basics
Race: Phoenix
Age: 16
Sex: male
Affiliations: Queen’s Army
Favorite/Best Power(s):
Enmire has the ability to ‘Listen to the Wind’ and predict the weather. He can also control it, but only so much. He cannot cause drastic weather changes (e.g. snow in summer; a storm on a sunny, cloudless day) but can use what is already there (e.g. summon lightning or rain from a cloudy sky). He also has the ability to summon gales. As a Phoenix he carries the Flames of Rebirth, which engulfs him just before or at the moment of his death. Given his experience as a soldier, he can handle himself pretty well with a sword or staff/spear.
>> back story
Mate/Spouse: none
Family/Ancestry: His only living family is his father, a librarian at the Royal Archives
History:
(The First Seven)
Enmire was first born Sofus more than three decades ago. Unlike a Phoenix’s repeating rebirth, this was a ‘true’ birth, a creation of a new being. Sofus was a bright, inquisitive boy who later became an advisor to the King. The ruler then was a tyrant who never listened to his moral advice, so eventually Sofus plotted to replace the King with a more suitable candidate. The plot was unfortunately uncovered and Sofus fled. He traveled as a Sage and eventually died at the age of 80, known as either a very wise man or a traitor.
Thirteen years later the memories of Sofus the Sage came to a young farm girl, Siera. She was known in her village as a wise woman, but besides her role as the village doctor she lived an unremarkable life. She died of old age at 64 and burst into flames in her bedroom.
Irvine the soldier was unlike his previous incarnations. His past memories surfaced much later than most Phoenixes, so he rejected his former identities. He was a self-proclaimed ladies’ man and a drunkard. Irvine turned out to be a skilled warrior, though, and fought countless battles. He was impaled on a spear at 33.
His next life was not as fortunate. Even before the memories of his past lives could awaken in him, Sasa the thief died at the young age of 12. His reincarnations would later have his sleight-of-hand skills and his memory of death by stampeding carriage horses.
And then there were Daquan the weather wizard and Trinnean. Now Trinnean was a nobleman and a philanthropist. He was also a member of the Sanguine Revenge. He worked to change the country through the upper echelons, driven by his first life’s passion. Time and failure had dampened it, but the more favorable conditions of Trinnean’s generation spurred him. However, he never lived to see victory. He was poisoned at the age of 43.
Of all his incarnations, the next one was the youngest. Rinni was only a child, but she was the daughter of a Refugee hunted down by the Blood Members. She was killed along with her parents and a party of five companions. She was only 8.
(Enmire)
Enmire had a normal childhood. As a child, he still didn’t have his past lives’ memories. His father was a librarian and scribe who had many books and maps in his study, so even without the memories of half a dozen people he grew up to be pretty knowledgeable. He was fond of books too, you see. Since his father was often busy and his mother had died when he was a baby, the books and maps were his company. He would spend his afternoons reading under a desk. Sometimes he would have a friend over and they’d read together. In his spare time, his father taught him how to write in different language and scripts. Enmire enjoyed knowledge. And knowledge he would have when he turned 14.
Awakening was what Phoenixes called it, how the memories of their past lives returned to them. Most of the time, it was a slow, gradual process. But in Enmire’s case it was a sudden flood of images, feelings, and sounds. He was out on an errand when he practically experienced death seven times. It was one of his neighbors who brought him home while he wept in stunned silence. His father calmed him, assuring him that the process was natural for beings like them. Puberty was never easy for Phoenixes.
After a year Enmire got used to having a myriad of memories in his mind, but his personality started to change a little. He was much less optimistic, less naïve, and less awkward around the opposite gender. He retained his gentleness and virtues, though. His friends noticed he was much calmer, but nothing more.
His father, on the other hand, found Enmire did not need teaching anymore. The young man went ahead and became a scribe, while his father got accepted as a Royal Archivist. However, the man kept an eye on his son. The boy had told him of a past murder, and Enmire’s feelings worried him. Already Enmire openly supported the Queen and pledged his allegiance, so who knew what he might do if he came upon Blood Members?
>> more in depth
Personality:
Enmire is well-meaning and moral, but he has a sharp tongue and somewhat twisted sense of humor. Despite the sarcasm, he does posses tact when it is needed, and he has the sharp mind to go with it. He is cool and calculating; rarely does he act without deliberation. Enmire has insight far beyond his years, but tends to try and act like a normal, young, cheerful scribe.
