"Perhaps a surgeon or some kind of doctor who could check your physical traits and see if there's something wrong that he or she can fix," Soren remarked, not noticing Mirage's sudden defensive skepticism. "Or perhaps a neurologist? Magic and the mind are usually linked in some way."

Mirage began to not like the sound of this, but if it was the only way to help her other than magic, then it would be worth a shot. "Alright, we can try. But if it fails, and I get worse, I'm warning you now, that when I put my trust in someone and they fail me or wind up harming me in any way, I will hunt you down and kill you." She stared into his eyes while she said this, just so he knew that she wasn't joking.

((By the way, do you know how to cure/treat her or am I free to make something up?))
Soren just grinned at her, as if it didn't really matter what happened to him. And though Mirage did not know Soren so well, she would come to learn just how much he put others' needs over his own.
"Well," he said, "it just so happens that I was supposed to meet someone here in the city, and he is trained in some kind of medical profession."

(No, for now, I'm planning on seeing how extreme and embarrassing I can make the condition get... so feel free to make something up.) She thought it odd that he seemed unaffected by her threat. "Then let us meet this friend of yours."

Soren continued to lead her through the crowded streets of Heulandite towards a small residential building that was sandwiched between a bakery and a jewelry store. He walked up the stairs and stopped and turned to Mirage.
"This is the place."

Mirage eyed the place with suspicion. Warning bells went off in the back of her head. It could be a trap, she thought. I mean, I don't even know who he works for.... She shook her head to clear the thoughts, and followed Soren into the building. The bad feeling in her gut continued to persist though, and it had never let her down before. "I've got a bad feeling about this," she mumbled, and she gripped the hilt of her sword for comfort. Relax, you're a highly trained assassin, if anything goes wrong, you can get out of it. she reminded herself.

Soren knocked on the door.
Some moments later, a kooky(sp?)-looking man with goggles over his eyes and a shock of graying brown hair opened the door. "What do you want?!" he demanded in a cracking voice.
Soren smiled. "Good afternoon, Dr. Crossaint."
The strange-looking man lifted his goggles, revealing a pair of bright, hazel-brown eyes that gawked widely at Soren. "Soren, my boy!" he laughed, embracing him and twirling him around. "How are ya, lad? Is the painting business all it's cut out to be for ya?"
"Much harder than had originally thought it out to be," Soren remarked. "But I'm here on business besides that of just visiting you." He gestured to Mirage. "This is Mirage. She's having some kind of unprecendented ailment that, says she, is slowly turning her into a wraith. Any kind of treatment by means of magic only worsens her case."
"Hm... Is that so?" Croissant's eyes narrowed as he examined Mirage. "What be yer case, lass?"

Mirage tried not to gawk at the strange looking man she saw before her. "What kind of doctor are you?" she asked. What did I get myself into? "My problem besides the fact that I have three split personalities right now would be that I'm either turning into a wraith or death itself, as my shade personality informed me right before I got my hand stuck in a pole while I temporarily became a non solid. I was also completely invisible. My powers should allow me to do that only when I command it to happen, not at random. When I do use my powers, they often turn off at very dangerous times during missions. Once a dagger got stuck in my foot... "So, I'd say I have a majer problem with magic, and magic makes it worse. I think it has something to do with that lightning bolt Waefae threw at me when I was escaping a palace or something...." She gasped, hoping she had not revealed to much about herself, or her dark past. "You don't work for Waefae, do you?" she asked, hand resting on the hilt of her sword once more.

"Waefae... Isn't that some kind of a cookie?" Croissant inquired, thoughtfully rubbing his chin. "Ah, well, it doesn't matter. Come on in, lads. I'll see what I can do for ya."
Croissant's apartment home was cluttered with strange sets of test tubes and vials, contraptions of flying machines and carriages without horses. There was a steaming pot of tea on the stove that he hadn't bothered with yet. Perhaps the only tidy thing in the immediate vicinity was the couch, which the strange doctor led Mirage and Soren over to.
"Have a seat, lass," he said. "I'll be with ya shortly."
He disappeared into the kitchen as the teapot whistled. Soren sat down on an armrest of the couch and looked at Mirage.

Mirage was stunned to say the least by how disorganized the house was. She was intrigued, and also scared, of all the strange things inside the house. She sat down on the coach. Is this man mad, or is he really clueless when it comes to the politics surrounding Forinasi right now? she thought. She soon felt Sorens' gaze rest on her. She had never felt so unnerved or so self-counscious around any one before except for by maybe Daemon when he had almost kissed her. "Please stop staring at me Soren. It makes me feel uncomfortable."

Soren smiled. "I understand that you have reason to be tense, but I can assure you that neither the doctor nor I mean you harm. Please, have a seat."
From her request, he also stopped looking at her, instead indulging his attention in all the strange and marvelous contraptions within Croissant's apartment.

Mirage began to relax a little as Soren stopped looking at her, however her training did not allow her to completely relax in any setting or situation. "How long have you known this doctor?"

"I've known him since he was a smith," Soren replied calmly. "He used to let me paint while he worked, during my time at the orphanage."
Dr. Croissant came waddling back in, an apron now tied around his front and a tray of teacups and tea kettle in his gloved hands. "I hope you don't mind green tea. It's good for yer digestion, and it's good for yer mind."
He placed the tray on the table and sat down on the empty seat of the couch, looking completely out of breath. Soren poured himself a cup and took a sip.

Mirage took a cup and poured a glass of the green tea. She eyed it suspiciously, checking for any strange or poisonous substances. She finally took a sip and asked the doctor, "So what do you need to know before you examine me?"

"It would be nice if ya told me all you could about yer condition," Dr. Croissant replied, taking a swing of his own cup of tea. "But tell me what you want to share first."
