Well, let's not waste the time we have, then.
I responded, slipping through the thin trees into the dark, dappled light of the forest. I liked the forest, it was another quiet place away from the city.
I swung my arms, looking around for some kind of topic for a conversation. I was notoriously bad at small talk, and I hated awkward silences more then anything. They were always.... so awkward.

Pike didn't seem to mind the silence too much. He was busying himself looking around the forest, observing the birds and bugs that they happened upon as they walked. These weren't sights you'd see in the city, after all.
"Hey, look! A squirrel!" he exclaimed, pointing up at a tree where a squirrel sat, watching them.

ooc: ((I don't suppose I ever old you about the suicidal squirrel with a cult following named William who is currently stalking me and planning his revolution from his headquarters in the oak tree behind my house, right?))
I stared at the squirrel, it's beady little eyes watching me. He perched on his tree, evil little teeth glinting at me.
I frinkin hate squirrels.
I muttered, glaring at it.

OOC: ((No, you quite failed to mention that to me )) "You hate squirrels?" Pike said, joining Narya and looking up at it. "What's so bad about 'em?"

((ooc: I know I'm not a part of this but I just felt like mentioning...
that Narya is weird.
And recommend to her that she might be interested in a therapist.))

I've had... bad... bad experiences with them.
I muttered, hunching my shoulders and moving on. I glanced back at the creature; it was still watching me, and I was starting to get weirded out.

OOC: ((lol Nora))
"Squirrel-a-phobic?" Pike asked, easing her away from the squirrel.

ooc: ((-pokes- that's what you're supposed to be, Nora darling ^^))
I giggled, smiling back at Pike.
Not completely, but, yeah, to some degree.
I replied, turning my attention away from the demonic little rodent.
What about yourself? Surely you have some sort of embarrassing fear or some sort of issues. Besides the tripping, that is.

"Yeah, I... actually do have a stupid fear," Pike said, his embarrassment showing on his face. "But I guess nothing beats my friend's fear of the dark."

Hey, I can kind of understand the dark thing. But, what is this fear, hmm? It can't be worse than squirrels. I promise I'll try not to laugh.
I responded, raising a curious eyebrow.

"Amazingly, I am a philophobe," Pike admitted, hoping halfheartedly that Narya did not know what that meant.

I raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything, not letting on if I knew what that meant or not. But, it got to the point where I had to say something, I just wasn't one to let things drop like that.
Seriously?
I muttered, glancing at him over my shoulder.
But, I mean, that isn't half as bad as my sciurophobia.

May as well give in to the definition. "I don't know how any phobia could be worse than the fear of being in love or being loved by someone else," Pike said shamefully. "People who have such a fear tend to have a 'don't come near me' vibe."

Well, if you were afraid like that, wouldn't it work out for you?
I added, trying to be helpful. I didn't really think it was working. Things usually don't work like that for me, I usually screw stuff up.

"Not really... because the human nature of things is that one still craves to be loved by at least someone whom he or she can be in contact with-- despite the fears," Pike said.
He didn't realize that he said 'human'.
