On impulse, Pike gave Narya a big hug, as if to shield her from the storm's rampaging strike. Obviously, the rock provided a roof over their heads, but he didn't think about that as his arms locked themselves around her.
"Geeza... That sounded close," he remarked.
...And then, he realized what he was doing and slowly backed away from Narya, hoping that she wouldn't kill him. At least, not right away. Again, he looked out from their shelter to see how dangerous the storm was. THey needed something to eat soon.
He wondered if he could make it out and back in a demonic form...

Well, yeah, ok that stopped me from screaming. It also stopped my mind from thinking, as well. Until he let go of course. then I just blushed and curled into a little ball, squishing myself against he back of the cave. He was gonna get it later, heck yeah, but right now...
Ehm, yeah, I guess it was...
I muttered, wrapping my cloak even tighter around my body. At this rate I was going to suffocate myself.
I tried ia muse myself by studying the cave walls, but discovered there were a lot of bugs crawling around the place, which just ended up making me feel worse than I already felt, So much for that distraction. So far the only thing which had worked so far was Pike's hug, and I was terribly eager to go through that again.
and.... thanks.
I finally managed, a weak smile forming on my lips.

Pike's usually spacey mind took that moment to focus a genuine smile back at her. No words came to him on terms of that subject, so he turned back to his current task: find food in the storm.
And then, something caught his eye as another flash of lightning illuminated the ruins. He could've sworn... Yes, there was. On a piece of rubble, not too far away, was a giant stag.
Even without a demon in possession of his body, he licked his lips hungrily. "...Meat..."

Normally when a guy says something like "meat' and licks his lips, you either run for your life, or take out your sword. Or, if you're a really sissy girl, you say something like "eeeeew!" But not me, oh no, my reaction was:
"Meat? Where? Kill it!"
I replied, making sure to not speak to loudly to scare off the meat. I looked around eagerly, leaning forward and trying to see what Pike had seen.
That there pretty much sums up my entire personality, really.

Narya ended up leaning most of her weight onto Pike's back, which was a little annoying to him considering his growing back problems already from all his trip-ups... Stupid klutz. He pointed out to the stag, standing alone in the storm, looking very proud of itself.
For a moment, Pike second guessed himself and thought it was just a statue, but it HAD to be real... It looked too tasty not to be.
"...How to dodge all that lightning and roast the meat before it escapes?" he wondered.

I raised an eyebrow, looking over at Pike.
We could just, you know, throw a knife at it or something.
I muttered, moving forward a little more to try and see it better. I could feel little drops of rain splatter on my nose, but I was to entranced by the walking meat to think about it.
You any good with throwing knives? I have some in my pouch...

"Eh... You might have better luck throwing a knife at it than me," Pike admitted. He already knew that Narya knew that he was still an... elf... in training. He couldn't even handle swordplay effectively against her yet.

I chewed on my lip, drawing a dagger out of my belt. I never had been very good at throwing knives, I could throw things, lots of things, but not knives. If I just had to hit someone on the head with a book, yeah, I was great, but not if I had to make the point end of something go into another something. Now I understood the concept of the throwing star.
OK, wish me luck.
I muttered lifting my hand and throwing.

Pike nodded. "Best wishes."
And he watched as the knife soared through the storming dusk of day.

Wooo!
I yelled, watching as the knife embedded itself in the buck's head. That was a fortunate shot, for sure. I watched happily as the deer tumble down the rocks, landing in a crimson puddle not terribly fall from the cave.
Suddenly I realized it was still storming outside, and I pulled back from the edge of the overhang in shock, tumbling over myself and landing on my butt.
I killed it, you go get it.
I laughed, laying my head down on the dry ground.

"I guess with a shot like that, you deserve to stay here," Pike admitted in good humor. "I'll be right back."
He left the safe shelter and began to scramble over and around rubble and ruin, dodging lightning that got too close to his position. His heartrate increased dramatically, as the buck seemed a lot farther than he anticipated from their shelter.
Finally, he reached the stag, his mouth watering and his face drenched in rain. The bangs of his hair stuck to his forehead and wouldn't budge. "Gotcha..."
And then, the lightning struck just a little too close.

I relaxed for a little bit, lying in the dirt in relative comfort, The memory of the bugs drove me straight up again, though, and I stood and dusted myself off, glaring around myself.
I could hear the thunder rumble above, always seeming to get closer and closer. It made me shiver, and I sat down on a stone, wrapping my soiled cloak around my frame. It felt to empty here without Pike, and was starting to get worried. It hadn't been that far, had it? No, no, it hadn't. He should have been back by now, right?
My head shot upwards as lightning struck just outside the cave. my body began to shake, and my eyes wandered outside, looking for any sign of Pike. There, seeming so far away, I saw his form for a moment, hovering over the deer. And then it hit. I a flash, faster then I could blink. To my eyes it looked almost as if he lighting had encased Pike it it's glowing tendrils, and I instinct I jumped up, leaning over the rocks.
Pike!
I screamed, unsure of what to do. Run forward, into the storm? Did I really have the courage to do that? No, so I hung back like a coward, waiting for some kind of reply.

Narya could hear no reply, save the howling wind and the crash of thunder overhead. Somewhere nearby, more rubble collapsed to the ground, causing the earth to grumble in irritation. But no Pike. The darkness began to creep in as the storm finally began to subside, and the thunder rolling off into the distance.
...But no Pike.

Eyes wide, I stared out into the storm, calling his name. It was futile, I knew, but I didn't want to just give up. I gripped the rocks as tightly as I could , my knuckles turning white. I ran encouraging, happy sentences through my head over and over again, trying to make myself feel better. It didn't work, though.
The storm faded as quickly as it had come, leaving my dazed and alone in the cave. I bit my lip, sinking to my knees as I ran all possible answers through my head. Where was that stupid little kid, hu? Was this his idea of a joke, making me freak out like this? I'd kill him if it was.
Gathering my courage, I stepped out from under the overhang, creeping over to the deer. Had it been some kind of magic? Maybe some wizard had a grudge with him, or maybe.. some one was curious about his powers..
I banged my head on the rock, letting an exasperated sigh escape my lips. This is why I didn't have friends. Because a) they were a lot of work to always save, and B) crap like this happens to them... all the time.

Suddenly, the corpse of a large stag flopped down right in front of her. It was roasted to the core, and its unplucked eyes stared right at her.
Immediately following, a familiar, clumsy 17-year-old boy tumbled after it. "Wooa--OOPH!" And landed on his back in front of Narya. He blinked.
