No hard feelings.
I reassured her, or at least tried to, feeling amazingly un-confident in my own words. If things had gotten that bad, who's to say they wouldn't again? Who's to say in the morning we wouldn't be at each other's throat again?
Why don't we... get something to drink?
I muttered, lifting a a bag of coins out of my pocket and going to sit down at the bar. I moved back to where Kaze was, feeling guilty about having just up and left him, but it seemed like he had a friend of his own... to some degree. She didn't seem like the talkative type.

Mirage followed Daemon, glad that he had forgiven her. She felt a great weight come off of her chest as she new that she had finally done something right. She found herself once more sitting at the bar with a glass of red wine. "So Daemon, where have you been these past few years?"

Heh heh, where haven't I been?
I laughed, taking a long swig of my new mug of some sort of hard liquor. I mentally reminded myself to slow down a little, I had a date.. of sorts, in the morning after all. I didn't really want to show up with a hangover, did I?
I've been, specifically, in caves, bloody fields, dark castle, dungeons, ballrooms, throne rooms. I've even sat on a throne...
I laughed a little at that. Good thing that the King had never found out about that little incident.
And, in general, I've been... traveling.
I replied, casting a glance over in her direction.
And yourself?

Mirage thought for a few moments and replied, "I've been in the king's palace, the king's personal living quarters, a dungeon, towns, caves, and inns of late. I think you know why I was in each of those places, well maybe not the dungeon but.... do you really think that even with my ability to disappear that I would just walk through the front door of a palace, I mean he had a lot of wizards set out to kill me so, I wasn't about to take a chance."

I nodded my head, starting to feel the drink effect my a little more. My thoughts were getting looser, and my mouth was just waiting for me to start slurring and spouting the random gibberish my drunken moments were notorious for. Or so someone told me once. Apparently I'd gone off on a tirade about why my commanding officer should wear women's clothing. Yeah....
I nodded, laking another sip. If I was gonna get drunk, might as well get it over with. Yeah, I can kind of see why. I muttered, partly to myself.

"So Daemon, what ever happened to your pet wolf?" Mirage asked out of curiosity. She hadn't seen it, but remembered that he had once had a wolf for a pet.

I can only sense her because of her voice. Otherwise- even with hearing such as mine- I would have overlooked her entirely. That, in and of itself, intrigues me. There are few things in this world that I do not hear. Why, even from this distance, I can hear the thudding of he heartbeat of someone in the corner. And the fact that the woman lacks one. And her scent... It is not human, not elven, not even Immortal. And that sets me sur la pointe.
I watch carefully as the tender hands me a steaming plate of almost- raw meat. It does not take me more than two or three minutes to clean in entirely. With food in my stomach, I can thing that much more clearly. Why can I not hear her? Why does she seem dead to the world? I turn and rest my back against the bar, so I may at least keep an eye on her. Daemon and Mirage no longer hold my interest.

When Daemon did not answer, Mirage began to scan the room. Some new comers were there, or at least they had not been there before the encounter with the strange woman, but none seemed to pose a threat so Mirage returned to her red wine.
