Waefae took a step back and eyed Kal warily as Kal took the sword off of his neck and onto the ground. This was an unexpected move. Waefae slowly sheathed his sword, but kept his hand on a dagger hilt. He backed off a little. "What's your offer?" he asked. "Realize that if I am not pleased or do not find it useful, I will kill you."

Good job on the encouragement, there I mumbled under my breath, collecting my scatted nerves and thoughts. I took one long deep breath, sending a prayer to whatever gods there were and asking for their help.
I propose and alliance. Between your group and mine. The exact terms are, of course, open to negotiation, but we would share information, share power, all of that good stuff. I let slide a sly smile, unable to hold it in. Ah yes, the offer of power. One of the most irresistible things int he world. People claim to be above it's pull, they all do, but how many really are? If you're given the chance to rule the world, to shape it and fix it to your image... why wouldn't you take the chance?
I hummed a light song under my breath, trying to calm my own nerves. The grass swayed lightly in reply, catching the ancient words of plant speech that laced the notes.

Waefae stood there thinking for a while. "Why share power? I see the use of an alliance and sharing information, but sharing power leaves one open to opposing opinions of how things should be run, which then leads to mutiny and betrayal."

... I hope you aren't stupid enough to think you could defeat Isandra on your own. I was deadpan and blunt without thinking. TO many days spent with nothing but grovelling underlings trying to convince they were not, in fact, planning to stab you in the back that afternoon. You can get away with murder when everyone is trying to suck up to you.
My hand shot to the chain around my neck again. Like a security blanket, I drug my fingers over it's metal, shifting it's weight on my neck. My heart almost skipped a beat as I considered Waefae's response to the insult. How collected was he? Was he one of those guys who flies off he handle at the slightest thing? Would he frown and move on? Would he laugh it off? Would he laugh it off and then send that dagger of his into my gut?
The grass stopped swaying. It stood straight up.

Waefae glared at Kal. The elemental had backed off, giving him control of his mind. "You're avoiding answering my question," he said as he stepped a bit closer. "I'll ask you again, why share power, and what do you mean by share power?"

I'm not sure how much clearer I can make it Without insulting you. If we make an alliance, if we band together our forces and contacts and our power, Isandra won't stand a chance. If two countries gang up on one, who going to win? The two countries, right? Well... unless the attacked one calls in some allies or something. But still, who is she going to call? The rouges? Ah, man, calm down a little there. Don't work yourself into a frenzy. NO need to go hysterical in front of the man holding your life in his hands. Or, who just had been.
I babbled a little plant speech to calm myself, releasing my chain. What reasons did he have not to go for my offer? Trust, I suppose. He didn't trust me, which definitely didn't help. He probably wondered about my motives, about why I was turning against the Queen who had shown me only friendship. Gods bless me, if I could avoid answering that, I'd be golden.

"How do I know you are not working for the queen as a double agent, and will eventually betray me to her?" he asked. Waefae also did not like the idea of sharing power, but this question was more important.

I paused, my mind working over time to work out the kinks in my ill-planned... plan. It was time to lay it all bare, and see if it would work. I could see the door, but that's didn't mean it was unlocked for me. Or that there wasn't a lion on the other side waiting to devour me. ah, or... or how do you know... that's I'm not working for the Queen, and am willing to give you information on her... I smiled, pieces of the puzzle falling into place before me. And in exchange, I'd give her information on you.
Augh, on second thought, perhaps saying that last part outloud wasn't the brightest idea. Dealing in secret would have been easier than dealing in public, but it added an entirely new element to the conflict. How much would one pay me to give false information to the other? When it came down to the wire, how much would they pay to have me exclusively on their side?

"First of all, that made no sense. And second of all, even if it did make sense, I don't want you telling the queen anything about me," Waefae said as he reflexively put his hand on the hilt of his sword, which was on his back.

I'm sure you don't want me telling the queen about you, but, the question is, how much do you want to know about he queen? Let's put it this way: Would you be willing to sacrifice information about yourself, to gain information about her? I hope I had been able to clear it up a little. He seemed like such a highly suspicious fellow, it was rather a pain to try and negotiate with him. By this point I had expected him to settle down a little, but I suppose not everyone is as easy-going as me.
.... ok, maybe "easy going" is the wrong word phrase. Let's just skip that and move on to the part where Waefae says "yes, that sounds like a good idea" and I get to go home.

"Only if it were false information that would lead her astray," Waefae replied as he took his hand away from the claymore. He was beginning to like the way Kal thought. "You have a deal, for now. Don't let me down."

False information, of course. I laughed lightly, distracting form the nervous twitch of my hand as it curled and uncurled into a fist, an attempt to release nervous energy. It seemed he didn't exactly understand what I had been saying, but no harm done, I still had confidence it would work out to my benefit in the end. Oh, I could see it already, so many new opportunities opening up before me. The days ahead would tell me a lot, about who I could trust, who trusted me, who I could get close to...
I don't suppose we could, you know, get this is writing? I ventured carefully, not wanting to push my luck further then I already had.

"Yes, we can. It will make it much easier for me to hold you to your word," Waefae said. "Follow me," he continued as he began to blindfold Kal. "I don't trust you enough to let you see the paths to my hide out.

Whoa, just a second there! I resisted his attempt ducking away and out of reach as quickly as I could. I don't do blindfolds. Look, this entire business is sensitives stuff, yeah? How is it you trust me to gather and give you information, but you still don't trust me? I turned a dark glare on him, trying to worm my way out of putting my life in his hands again. There was a constant sinister air about him I couldn't ignore, I could feel it almost bleeding into my soul and eating away at it. He didn't trust me? Yeah, well, the feeling was mutual. I expected a knife in my back any second.
Besides, I would feel more comfortable negotiating on more... neutral ground. Ha, a laughable description. I was in his forest, for the gods' sakes. Neutral this place was not.

"Let's be reasonable here. You came to my forest and want to make a deal with me. Negotiations will be held on the ground of my choosing. I never let visitors see the entrances to my fortress. You're telling me that if I had come to your hideout to make a deal with you, that you would trust me right off the bat and let me walk into your hideout and see the strengths and weaknesses without a blindfold? That seems like you're inviting an army to come and wipe you out. Besides, if I don't blindfold you, I'll be forced to form an alliance with you and then either you would have to remain in the forest for the rest of your life, or I will have to kill you. So view the blindfold as your life line, and me deciding to be merciful, and not kill or imprison you," Waefae said as he once more approached Kal with the blindfold.
