It was some time in the afternoon, when the sun was low and a soft light illuminated the forest. The birds weren't completely silent, but their chirping wasn't too audible either. What the air carried was a tune unfamiliar in the forest--it was Perro's whistling.
He wasn't too sure about leaving Karilli village while the manor still stood, but then he figured the house didn't matter much if its masters were either dead or missing. What mattered to Perro was finding his Master Vandamir, and if he knew his master well Vandamir wouldn't still be in the village. Not when the entire village populace was out for his blood, as well as their servants'. Perro may not be the sharpest tool in the box, but he was no idiot. Master Vandamir would be back, but not at the moment. For the mean time, he had to save his skin to be able to find his master.
And so there he was, walking away from Karilli village with nothing but the clothes on his back while whistling a cheerful tune. He'd have to find dinner in a few hours, though.

Waefae walked through the woods, slipping from shadow to shadow. There was a strange presence in the woods, and this made him feel uneasy. The elemental began to enhance his abilities and senses, which were already highly developed because of his being a shade. He had been enjoying a peaceful walk, but now he felt threatened. He heard whistling, but it was rather distant from him. Waefae started to head in the direction of the whistling, and wondered why his spies had yet to tell him of any new comers in the woods.

Perro wasn't making an effort to be quiet at all. He wasn't exactly the careful type, and the woods could bring out any creature against him, big deal. Maybe he could have it for dinner.
Speaking of dinner, he started to smell something. The whistling continued, but Perro stood still, sniffing the air. The scent was faint, perhaps because the creature was farther away. Not food, though, now that it was a bit closer. It smelled familiar, like...
Shade... Perro grinned. It could be his Master Van, but he would have to get closer to tell. His whistling slowly quieted and he started walking towards the scent.

Waefae grew nervous as the whistling stopped. Whatever, or whoever it was, had caught his scent. Waefae was still unable to identify what the creature was, and that was unnerving him. The wizard caught a whiff of some form of a magical ability around whatever it was that had made it into his woods, but could not figure out what the thing was. He grew even more paranoid than usual, and he began to loose his calm. The elemental took complete control of Waefae, pushed the fear aside, and forced the wizard to continue walking in the direction of the strange scent.

As Perro neared the source of the scent, his hope of meeting a familiar person waned. It was a Shade, yes, but someone he had not met before. That was a big disappointment. He had half a mind to leave the Shade alone, but he knew well that at that distance the other should be able to sense him too. And even when Perro stopped walking, the scent still became more distinct.
If the Shade wanted to see him, then he would. Perro kept his gaze towards a pair of trees--the same direction the scent was from--and waited. He could defend himself if it came to it, since he was never good at negotiations. That happened when you were trained to ask no questions and just kill when you were told. Ah, but he was getting ahead of himself. He hadn't even met the Shade yet and there he was thinking of killing the guy. Old habits die hard.
When he started to hear rustling, he went ahead and greeted the stranger.
"Hullo." he said simply, his mouth in a toothy grin.

Waefae heard the creature say, "hello." Well, at least it's intelligent to some extent. Waefae thought to himself as he walked through the last few branches and onto the path. Wereperson... "What are you doing in my woods?" Waefae asked, the paranoia creeping in once more.

"What are you doing in my woods?"
"Your wood?" Perro repeated, his brows rising. That meant he'd crossed a border already. He should have known when the trees started to look different. "Just a traveler, passing through." was his casual reply.
Perro stuffed his clawed hands into his pockets and eyed the stranger, his nose catching just a whiff of tension from him. Compared to his unreadable master, this one was relatively easier to smell out. Perro boldly--or rather stupidly--decided to test the waters. "You own the woods, eh? What does that make you, a lord or a loon?"

"HOW DARE You call me, the all powerful wizard Waefae, A LOON!" Waefae shouted. "I will one day rule all of Forinasi, and then we shall see who is the loon." He drew his claymore; his eyes blood red as the elemental took control of the wizard. He began circling the wereperson.

Perro let out a chuckle as he pulled his claws out of his pockets. All powerful? Well that was his opinion. Maybe the man was a loon. A loon, but a powerful one. Perro was never adept at magic besides his shapeshifting, but he could sense its presence at least. Waefae wasn't lying about being a wizard.
"So that means you're some kind of lord?" Perro asked again. His grin widened. "That's a pretty big dream, ruling all of Forinasi." In response to the man's circling, he took a stance as well, slowly following Waefae's example. Claws against a claymore didn't look like a very good match, but Perro had fought with such odds before. "How exactly do you plan on reaching that dream of yours?"

"By killing all who stand in my way. Even now my spies are coming closer to taking over the Royal City. Soon I will be able to take over all of Forinasi," Waefae explained, "and those who do not bow down to me shall be vanquished. I suggest you hold your tongue and learn your place, before you end up like others who have dared to defy me."

What a megalomaniac! A very talkative one, too. Perro snickered and then broke into a hearty laugh, his stance forgotten. Really! The gods had a habit of throwing strange people into his path. Not that he wasn't strange himself.
"I know my place, and I don't take orders from you." he answered back after he'd calmed himself. His cockiness then faded as he put on a serious look. The fearful tension had disappeared from the wizard, and it was replaced by something that Perro...liked. "At least, not yet. I wouldn't mind watching you reach your dream."

Waefae grew aggravated. He was not used to being talked back to by what he viewed as intellectually inferior people. "You speak boldly for someone who is of so inferior an intellect."

Perro paused, going through his list of replies and trying to pick one. He was sorely tempted to mock the wizard with something along the lines of 'You talk like you already own Forinasi when it looks like all you've seen of it is your basement' or something more simple, like 'Look who's talking!' What he finally came up with was not much better. "You don't scare me, smart guy. You were starting to impress me there. Too bad." He even added a yawn.

Seeing the were person's impudence infuriated Waefae. The yawn only made him even more angry at this strange creature. "I ought to kill you...."
