The trade center was bustling with people today. The temperature was, as always, nice and warm.
Riot hated the heat, though. He would rather have the temperature some 30 degrees lower than it currently was. When it was this hot, he felt lazy and lethargic, unable to really move quickly or focus well. But this was one of the safer places in the world to him. Sanguine fugitives were not easily forgotten...
He wandered along the streets, trying to act like one of the crowd. It was a little harder with his tattered, dark clothing and conspicuous appearance. Ironic for his former occupation.

¡Tirones! ¡Soy un Blood Member! ¡Usted va a ser audiencia de mí otra vez!
I screamed at eh bar tender, falling rather harshly on my butt outside. The man rolled his eyes, pointing to the sign next to the door.
No alcohol is to be served to children under 18, by the Queen's decree! he clarified, turning away briskly and leaving me humiliated int he dust. So what if I was "underage?" why did he care, anyway?
I fumed as I sat, clenching my teeth as I tried to calm myself. I'd given up the whole "counting to ten" method months ago, and normally would revert to just bashing things in, but I was already humiliated enough to not want to make a scene. And actually it wasn't the fact that he'd refused to serve me that upset me, it was that he'd so blatantly ignored my threat of calling in the Blood Revenge to help me get some, well, revenge. Not that I believed they'd ever do that for me, anyway. I was about as important to them as the crap on the bottom of their shoes.
I'm not a child.
I finally grumbled, my late, and rather lame, comeback reaching not much further then my own ears. everyone else was already moving on with their lives, carrying the story of the weird little girl they saw get thrown out of a bar.
With an "uuugh" I plopped backwards onto the ground, laying there int he dirt and muck with a sour expression.

"You know, being drunk might not be the best idea in the world anyway."
The conspicious, wandering stranger strolled up to Naryae and crouched down beside her. "And why drink anyway? Don't you know that alcohol tastes horrible?"

I glared angrily up at he stranger, letting out a quick sigh.
It might taste bad to some dorky little kid like you.
I grumbled, pushing myself up into a sitting position. I was probably being unnecessarily mean, but when I'm angry, everyone pays for it.
And I wasn't going to get drunk, just... buzzed. I... wait, why am I justifying myself to you?
I remarked, looking him up and down as if it was his fault. Of course it was, it was always someone else's fault, not mine, I was perfect, right?

"Because you feel like talking, and since you don't feel like talking to yourself and looking like a fool, you think in your mind that you might as well talk to a fool, eh?"
...Well, he had a reply waiting for that question. He sat down beside her as the crowds passed them by, not minding two strangers caked in dirt and mud-- one from lying down, the other from being out in the wilderness for a few years.
The young man flashed a grin. "And if you must know, I'm underaged as well. Whoever talks to me knows me as Riot. What's your name?"

Riot? That's a heck of a name.
I snorted, resisting the urge to giggle. Partly because that was rude, and also because giggles are so.. girly. Yuck, I'm not doing that.
I'm Naryae.
I added, cracking a crooked smile. I looked him up and down, raising an eyebrow at him, but holding my tongue. I probably looked just as bad, after having lain in the road. Idiot, you didn't have many good pairs of clothes.
So, uh... come here often?

"It serves as a good hiding place, so to speak," Riot replied. "It's hard to find a wanted man among a crowd of people."
Though he knew in his mind that it wasn't really the case for him. He looked so out of place in the crowd that he oftentimes found himself reverting to his special techniques instead to keep him out of sight. But for all he knew, the girl he was talking to was one of them, so she didn't need to know who he was just yet.
It was a pitiful thing to have to spill needless blood.
"How about you? You look more like the traveling type, if you ask me. Do you come here often?" He studied her appearance, trying to imagine if she'd look just as filthy without being caked in mud.

Me? Heck no, I've got a good, warm home to stay in.
I replied, turning up my nose at him as if I was royalty. It quickly fell back down though, as I remembered why exactly I'd come here to get "buzzed," as I had to nicely put it.
I mean, well... you know, had. But I'm getting a better place.
Yeah, sure. Keep on lying, girly.

"I'm thinking about calling your bluff," Riot said. "But I'll step back from it. I have no real home to return to... It's been a while and I don't remember the way."
That was partly a lie. Truly, he hadn't been home in years, but he remembered the way as clearly as the shadows of night. He only wished to keep his family away from the dangers that followed him. To deal with that shame would be unbearable.
"Well, you've been kicked out of the tavern. What are you going to do now?"

Don't remember the way? You have short term memory loss or something?
I shook my head, smiling to myself. Ah, I cracked myself up so much sometimes.
Uh.. I don't know... I guess... go...
Go steal something? Did I really want to admit that to this strange kid? A stranger who was... for some reason, sitting next to me in the middle of the road talking about his bad memory?
On a walk.
I bit my lip. Sounded pretty lame, but I hoped it would work.

Riot was getting the feeling that he was overstaying his welcome talking to this strange, sarcastic young woman. The better for him, he guessed. Once she was out of the picture, he'd go back to his usual life on the run.
He shrugged. "If you say so." He stood.

Eh, um, wait!
I cried out, gripping his arm and trying to drag him back down.
Don't... don't go, please.
I pleaded, feeling like a fool to be begging like this, But I didn't care, I didn't want to be alone right now. Not after what had happened. I didn't feel safe on my own, and my trust in people was quickly wavering. But not him, I felt like he was here for a reason, just for me. I was supposed to trust him, I just knew it.
Gods, don't let me be wrong about this.

Caught a little off-guard by her sudden change in character, Riot's eyebrow furrowed in skepticism. Now, he knew that he didn't trust her. But if she wanted to trust him, that was fine by him. There was an agenda on her mind that involved him for sure. He'd stay... but his eyes and ears would have to be on their highest guard now.
He nodded slowly, not knowing that his eyes reflected his suspicion. "...If you say so. Why?"

Oh, because... because...
Think fast, girl!
I need an accomplice!
I cried out, far louder then was necessary. A few interested people glanced at me with raise eyebrows, a few shopkeepers narrowed their eyes, but no one said anything. Good job on almost blowing your cover there, idiot.
I mean, you look like the kind of person who wouldn't mind stealing, right?

"Well, as long as you don't announce it to the world, sure," he chuckled. He dared not look around at the passing eyes, hoping that they weren't going to report two strangers that planned thievery.
"What did you have in mind?"
