A faint light was coming from the moon tonight, and Evylyn sighed in boredom as she stared at the night sky. She had just arrived in this new place, and she had no idea what to do. She didn't know anyone, and because of her easily excited mind, she could be easily manipulated with just one simple bribe. So, if someone quite evil just popped up, they would be able to make her join them. But, Evylyn was not exactly evil; her powers could be used for evil, but she doesn't use them anymore. Fear has changed her view on life in general, and that stupid power of hers has messed up her life. She can't even have decent friends anymore. Every guy she meets tries to look at her gorgeous eyes, but her eyes end up scaring them off once their full potential is put upon the guys.
As a sailor walked toward her, he put his hands in the air, motioning for her to move with each angry sway of his arms. Evylyn groaned in disgust, the sailor's rude actions making her angry as well. She quickly stood up and walked away, heading for the city that was further away from the ocean. Once she was finally in the heart of the city that lied here, she looked at her surroundings. The place was bustling with people, even at night.
Her stomach grumbled with hunger, so she pressed her hands to it, trying to make the pain go away. She had no money at all, and there was no chance that she would be able to steal anything will all of the people near her. Giving a wealthy looking man a pleading stare wouldn't work either, because the pain her eyes can give would only scare him away.
Doing the only thing available, she leaned against a tall, pale column, her body soon collapsing against it. Her back was then against the column and she was sitting down, her knees up and bent. Her eyes wandered from each passing person, sometimes getting a glimpse of their emotions. The thoughts and emotions of some men made her cringe in disgust, and the other thoughts that passed through her mind made her face turn either sad or happy.
Still sitting against the column, she continued to stare out at the city before her, each person now turning into a swift moving shadow, her eyes growing weary from hunger.
"Oooww.." she mumbled, resting her hands on the ground, trying to keep herself from falling over. Before she knew it, she had fainted from hunger and was now sprawled out on the ground, the moonlight continueing to cast an eery glow on her stiff body.
[Sorry if there are any mistakes. o.O I'm too lazy to check over it. xD]

Jade stared with annoyance at the large crowds pushing through the market place. She really didn't like big crowds; it made it quite easy for danger to sneak in unnoticed. It was rare that Jade even came to cities, but she was obligated to visit the queen's kingdom once in a while. Not to mention she needed some more supplies. A man pushed past her rudely and she glared at him fiercely, resisting the urge to run up and attack him. People could be so oblivious to others.
Speaking of being oblivious, nobody seemed to notice the woman who was collapsed against a pillar. Jade decided to add a little rudeness of her own to the crowd, and pushed her way through until she was kneeling above the unconscious woman. Jade's eyes glowed slightly in the moonlight as she stared at the woman. Sweeping her hand over the woman, Jade pinpointed the source of the woman's pain: her stomach. Jade raised an eyebrow; the woman was hungry.
Jade put her hand gently on the woman's stomach and closed her eyes, allowing the power to swarm forward. Her own body began to absorb the woman's pain; but the pain was transformed to energy and strength as it passed into Jade. She silently thanked her ancestor for the gift. When she felt she had taken enough, she removed her hands and pushed the power back, then opened her eyes and waited to see if the removal of the pain would wake the woman.

Evylyn gasped as she woke up, starting to cough for some unknown reason. The horrible pain that was in her stomach was gone now, and another woman was kneeling next to her. Evylyn tilted her head to the side, wondering why the pain was now gone and if it had anything to do with the woman next to her. She then raised her eyebrows in question before responding. "Who-Who are you? And what did you just...do?" Evylyn weakley replied, still tired from fainting. Finally noticing that she was still sprawled out on the ground like an idiot, she stood up and brushed the dirt off of her short dress. The style fit the climate that she was in, but she would freeze if she went up higher in elevation or even if the wind blew a little stronger.
As the wind started to pick up, Evylyn wrapped her arms around herself, trying to keep the small amount of warmth that she had in her body. Her hair blew this way and that, and she had to raise one arm to put the hair back in place, soon returning the hand to its place by her side.

Jade's face didn't change as the other woman woke up. She stood with her, speaking as she rumaged in her bag.
The name's Jade. I removed your pain. I did not however remove the problem. Get yourself something to eat, she said, holding out a few coins. She also pulled an extra cloak from her bag, a rugged blue thing, old and ripped. But it would help. You can have this, also. Jade shut her bag and took the time to examine the other woman. She was young--probably around the same age as Jade herself--and looked undeniably exhausted. Not to mention she was barely wearing accepted clothing for this cold.
What's your name? Jade rarely asked this question; she rarely cared. Not to mention she didn't like getting close to knew people. If this girl hadn't been in trouble, Jade would never have talked to her.

Evylyn's eyes narrowed, shocked at this woman's kindness. She was not used to having people be so kind to her, but it was a nice change. "I'm Evylyn, and thanks for...removing the pain.." she mumbled, still looking down and trying not to make eye contact.
Once the blue cloak was out of Jade's bag and in her hands, Evylyn slowly grabbed it, keeping it in her hands while observing it. She knew that her clothes were definitley not suitable and would probably attract unwanted attention, so this blue cloak was extremely nice to receive. Without waiting any longer, she quickly slipped the cloak on and brushed it down, attempting to make the wrinkles go away.
She was even more shocked when Jade handed her some coins. Finally looking up from the ground, Evylyn placed her eyes on Jade's mouth, still not making eye contact but actually facing her now. Evylyn pattered over to a nearby cart and purchased some fruit and bread. It wasn't much of a meal, but it was definitely something that would satisfy her. Once the food was gobbled up and in her stomach, she returned to the spot where she had fainted, standing next to Jade once more.
"Do you have any ideas on where I could make some money? I need some more equipment, and I'm going to need a way to satisfy this hunger that keeps on returning," said Evylyn, looking straight but not at Jade. She had no intention of begging her for more money, so she would need a way to supply herself with enough money for decent weapons, clothes, and food.

Jade wondered vaguely if Evylyn was blind. The girl was completely avoiding eye contact. But she seemed grateful for the help. Jade waited patiently until the girl returned, then sat down near her and watched the passerby. She smiled slightly at the question, but it didn't reach her eyes.
The only ways I know to make money require a strong stomach... in fact, having an empty stomach would help until you got used to it. She leaned back against the wall and glanced at Evylyn. Are you blind? Jade was usually blunt if she wondered something.

The question caught Evylyn off guard, making her stumble a bit and loose her balance. "What? No, I'm not blind...It's just that I have...it's hard to explain," she grumbled to herself, shaking her head in annoyance. She hated her stupid power, but being thought of as blind was a little worse than having someone know about her power. Also, many humans would probably do alot to be able to do what she was capable of, but she wasn't a human so this didn't have anything to do with her.
Evylyn sighed once more, looking up once more but still not making eye contact. "I'm not blind, and my vision is practically perfect. Maybe a little too perfect...I have well, the power to sense everyone's emotions, and at times read their thoughts. I can also see the past or future sometimes, but I can't controll that yet. To do any of these, I usually have to make eye contact with someone. It almost always causes the receiver and me pain, so that's a reason why I don't use it often."
Once Evylyn had explained to Jade her idiotic reason and story, she stood still, bracing herself and wondering what Jade had to say about the whole thing.

Oh, alright, said Jade calmly. She took a bite out of bread that she had stored in her bag and continued to watch the crowds, frowning slightly at the continuously growing size. It was never fun to shop when you were always falling over.
Do you come to this city a lot?

"No, this is my first time here," Evylyn responded, looking around at the growing city as well. Since it was her first time here, she had no idea on where to go and on what to do next. This new woman that was near her seemed to be nice enough; She hoped that she would meet more people and hopefully not make too many enemies.
Still confused, Evylyn decided to ask Jade for help. She seemed like she would know what to do and where to go. "Do you have any idea on..what I should do next? I don't even know where to stay..." sighed Evylyn, questioning her decision of coming here. Most of the people around her looked like commoners; merchants and sailors. Jade, on the other hand, looked like something else. She obviously traveled and didn't live here, so she must have some important job or role.

Jade chewed thoughtfully on a piece of bread. Well... without money, your options are really only begging and/or crime. You could beg a farmer to let you stay in his farm, or you can become a criminal and stay without permission. Either way it won't be as cozy as an inn.
Jade turned to look at Evylyn now, even though she couldn't make contact. Or you could devote your life to the queen, and she will lodge you and provide you with food. What she may ask in exchange however.... Jade drifted off, not sure if she should mention the whole thing about the queen mostly looking for assasins.

Evylyn thought for a moment, not liking the sound of begging. Crime wasn't too nice of a thought either, but for some reason, she prefered that over begging. Her whole thought process soon stopped, however, once Jade mentioned the Queen. "Go on...What does the Queen want in exchange?" Even though the sound of being provided with everything sounded nice, she didn't like the sound of devoting her whole life to the Queen.

Jade stared at Evylyn for a moment as if analyzing her. She wondered if this girl could handle the strain of working for the queen... but then again, people will do anything to eat.
The queen's jobs aren't easy, and they aren't pretty. To complete them you need a strong gut and brave heart. You need to be able to do anything to get the job done, and get it done well. Secrecy and mystery are the keys. And you can't have any hesitation, especially in hard situations. Jade paused a bit, stared blankly into the crowd, this time not really seeing them. She reflected briefly on some of her first missions. The queen will ask you to be a spy or an assasin, most likely. That is unless you have some other power that she finds useful.

Evylyn raised an eyebrow, thinking through what Jade had just said. The queen would probably not find her power useful, but that was because she couldn't really kill with it. [[she can, but she doesn't know this lol]] Then again, she can at times see the future, but this rarely happens, and the queen would probably dislike how this power can not be controlled. If she became an assasin, she would have to be much stronger, and somebody would be needed to train her both mentally and physically. She had nothing to lose in her life, so risking it was not a problem.
"Where can I find the queen?" inquired Evylyn, wondering if she was making the right choice. Working alone was preffered, but maybe working for the queen for a little bit would benefit her in some way...

She'll be in the royal city, most likely. Do you know where that is? Jade was heading there anyhow, and she wouldn't mind taking this girl, but she didn't want to girl expecting it. Jade prefered to offer her services when she wanted; she didn't like being asked. She was slightly weird like that.

"Heh, no, not really.." Evylyn mumbled with a slight chuckle. Evylyn felt a little embarrassed at now knowing where it was, but she had an excuse; she was new to this area and had arrived just a few hours ago. "Do you mind explaining how to get there?" She was silently praying to herself that Jade would take her herself, but that action seemed quite slim to her at the moment.
